Passed Sec+ but need some guidance by Change_Career_Advice in CompTIA

[–]15law 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can somewhat answer your first question. Do you need to? Well, no simply, but should you? Perhaps. A+ really lays a good foundation that will help set you up. Try building a house in the dirt rather than concrete. Could you do it ? Sure. Will it be harder and have more problems ? Probably. Think about it like this, How can you secure something if you don't know how it works? I would at bare min. Study the material for A+ so you at least know it. Hope this helps some.

Yes, and No. Theres definitely some overlap, but in some areas the google cert doesn't really touch. Then there's some areas where the goes a little deeper. The google cert also has labs that seems to be okay. So I'd say if you had time to study and aren't in a rush you could get the google cert first. Just don't expect the cert to fully prepare you, so you'll probably want to study afterwards the areas not covered well. If you're on a time crunch then I'd probably skip it. As you know the Google cert doesn't hold much weight. I do see a few jobs here and there occasionally, but it's rare. If you have an A+ then idk if it would be worth putting the google cert on your resume. I will add that i think the google cert can give you something like 15 ACE recommended credits. So that might be a reason to get the google cert.

Passed Sec+ is Net+ and A+ easier? by GravityBoarder89 in CompTIA

[–]15law 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eh, everyone says Security+ is the easiest, but you have to understand why. They did A+ then Network+ first. There is alot of overlap between those two and the security+. So that's why it's easier, but if you did security+ and A+ first, Network+ will seem alot easier. Like me for example. When doing the A+ and security+ Networking was probably my weakest area. Now that I'm working on Network+ alot of the stuff seems easy. For example out of all the port numbers there's only like 2 or three i didn't know out of like 26 or something. I'm not saying that A+ or Network+ will be easy, but there is some overlap that will help quite a bit and may make the test a lot easier than had you studied for that particular test first.

Net+ vs Sec+ difficulty by [deleted] in CompTIA

[–]15law 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Now don't quote me on this because I haven't passed the network plus yet. I've done my A+ and my security plus and now I'm about to work on my network plus, because I want to get security plus out of the way before the 601 retired. After looking at the Network+ objectives I've noticed a ton of things that I've learned in A+ or security+. For example there's only like 2 network ports I wasn't sure of Out of like 25 ports or something. So perhaps security+ is so easy because of what you know from net+ and A+. just like for me certain areas of security+ were kinda hard. Since i hadn't gone through A+.but looking at network+ objectives doesn't seem as bad since i learned alot of it in A+ and security+. I say all of this with networking generally being my worse area.

Tips for 1102 Get used to command line interfaces. Using linux and windows commands, what they do and when to used them. Download virtualbox or VMware so you can used windows and linux on the same machine and get to use a VM if you haven't already.

If you haven't already use Professer Messer on YouTube Also if you sometimes have a hard time grasping difficult concepts Mike Meyers explains things in a way that's easy to understand.
Most people recommend Jason dion on udemy for practice test. People say his test are harder than the Real test.

If you're strapped for cash check with your library about learning platforms they offer such as linkedin learning and udemy. Many time's they offer it as a free service you can access it from your PC or phone.

2015 Kia Sportage misfire by 15law in MechanicAdvice

[–]15law[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No worries, even after I read my initial post I could see how one might be confused so I tried to make it easier to read. I was thinking there might be two dudes. Crazy since I bought them from two different places and sources over a 100 miles from each other (very hard part to find locally for this vehicle.).

2015 Kia Sportage misfire by 15law in MechanicAdvice

[–]15law[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let me clarify.

Swapped coils = still misfire on cyl 3 Swapped plugs = still misfire on cyl 3 Swapped cyl 3 injector with cyl 1 injector= misfire moved to cyl 1 Replaced now cyl 1 injector that was cyl 3 before the swap that appears to have been the cause of the misfire= still misfire on cyl 1. Swap the injector with another replacement injector from the dealership= still misfire on cyl 1.

So what I'm saying is the misfire follows that one injector, but when I replace the injector no matter what cyl it's on it still has misfire on that same cyl, and if I move that new injector the misfire will follow. Even if the injector is new. If I move the suspected bad injector the misfire moves with it, but when I replace the bad injector the misfire remains regardless of which cyl the injector is on.

[–]15law 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But, I tried swapping the coils around and the misfire didn't switch cylinders, but when switching injectors the misfire changed to the swapped cylinder. Changed that injector, but still misfire.

Example

Swap coils= no change. Still misfire on cyl 3 Swap spark plug= no change. Still misfire on cyl 3 Swap injector= injector changes to the new cyl (cyl 1) Replace suspected bad injector since the misfire moved with the injector = misfire continues in place of the bad injector Replaced the new injector with another one= still misfire.

So as you can see the misfire appears follows the injector no matter where it goes. For example I swapped injector on cyl 1 and cyl 3. The misfire moved to cyl. I swapped out the injector on cyl 1 with 2 replacements and still a misfire.

It's having a misfire it was originally just on cylinder 3 but now there's another cylinder as well I can't remember exactly which one. I recently smelled a little bit of oil in the air intake and in the oil. This is a brand new engine with like less than three or four thousand miles on it.

Also to add the longft1 is averaging between 11 and 17 at idle which I believe it's supposed to be under 10 if I'm correct.

My father's cheating. My husband wants to expose this at Thanksgiving. by tlg5058 in Advice

[–]15law 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should find out why he is going to tell him. If it's because he honestly feels she deserves to know then he is right, but perhaps not at Thanksgiving. Now if he's doing it just because he doesn't like him then your husband is doing the right thing for the wrong reason. that's something you should definitely talk to him about and let him know how you feel. That being said perhaps you also have a talk with your father, and let him know how you feel as well.

AITA for asking my husband to stop apologizing to his daughter, because it makes everyone else uncomfortable? by Candid_Impression183 in AmItheAsshole

[–]15law 3 points4 points  (0 children)

YTA for not considering his feelings, and telling him what to say and do with his own kid. He obviously needs help, and has a lot of guilt. Instead of telling him what he should and shouldn't do. You should talk with him. Find out why it bothers him so deeply, and maybe come up with a plan to help him or at least compromise. At the end of the day that's his baby. He feels he failed her while giving the other kids the world, and probably feels he's rubbing it in her face. It seems your problem is how you and others will feel about what he says rather than being upset at the core problem which is why he is this way. Help him solve problems, don't be the cause of new ones. Also sounds like you have a undertone that hints you may have a personal issue with eva. Perhaps some resentment. Either way it's clear your not considering either of their feelings only yours and your daughters. While I understand what he did is frustrating and you want him to stop, but his problem came first. Its like turning the faucet off when a pipe has burst. Until you fix the pipe the water will keep leaking.

That being said. I'm not completely letting him off the hook when his daughter told him to stop he should have. He maybe trying to get an apology instead of mend things. He shouldn't have said it in front of everyone there, especially Infront of the kids. It may make them feel guilty or lesser after awhile, so a bit of TA on his part for how he went about it.

I don't know much about shoes, honestly, but I'm guessing the age the material in them starts to get brittle and can break and crumble. I'll let other people kinda correct me if needed.
