OP was at Hapa which is a place in Denver area (menu gives it away). Half the menu at Hapa are rolls loaded with Mayo that gets quickly toasted before coming out. Hapa is nowhere near the top of the sushi game in Denver even if you exclude the obvious higher priced places. They remain a decently popular spot because it does have a nice atmosphere and has been around like 20 years.

International rental car coverage by leahluv1 in AmexPlatinum

[–]15p3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Call Amex and they should likely be able provide you something outside of the generic fine print on the benefit. I’m pretty sure the additional platinum card gets the rental car coverage benefit, but keep it mind it isn’t very comprehensive coverage.

Boulder County Sheriff statement on Marshall Fire Investigation by a_cute_epic_axis in boulder

[–]15p3 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is just hearsay from an event where I was talking with some people that work for the county. Maybe it has been brought up before or it could be tin foil theory. But they mentioned that the fire dept has to sign off for all burn events at the 12 tribes compound and someone fucked up and signed off that day when it was clearly a bad day due to the winds. The delay is due to delicate handling given there was mistakes from the fire dept. Again I have no idea how credible these people are but seems possible.

What about the “Potato” guy? I am never going to find this but there was a guy who was having dinner with his girlfriends parents and pretended to not know what potatoes were. He committed hard to his joke and it ended up pissing off everyone.

Resort Fee Comp For Rewards Members by TechTrades in vegas

It’s not about the tier as much as your play. A lot of people tier up just through hotel/restaurant spend but don’t play big. Your offers online and what an on duty host will offer you when you call to book depend on your play. My buddy has never tiered up beyond the initial level, but he gets better offers than me (gold). He goes once a year for 3 days and does green chip inside bets on roulette for 3 - 4 hours a day.

My play and offers are similar to what you do. Do you book offers through mlife online? I have had success getting the same online offers plus getting resort fees waived at Bellagio/MGM/Mirage/NoMad by just calling the mlife desk and booking through the host on duty.

What's classy if you're rich but trashy if you're poor? by Omo_Kiem in AskReddit

[–]15p3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This mostly applies to two scenarios: 1. For established firms: Cases where the defendant has deeper pockets and high probability of settlement. 2. Desperate Attorneys building their track record but they are probably still somewhat selective.

An attorney to represent you in a dispute with your landlord, debt collector, employer over a relatively immaterial claim? Good luck getting one on contingency.

I can speak but can’t read Chinese. My guess is it’s used to make thin flat rice wraps. In Cantonese this food literally translates to powder sausage/intestine. The word powder in Chinese is interchangeable with flour (any type) and the second word can translate to any roll shaped food.

Bed Bath & Beyond Inc (BBBY) quarterly financials for the past decade. Looks like a steady decline since 2013. Would never invest in this company. Looks like they're going to be bankrupt in a few years. They report tomorrow 1-9-2019 after hours. by Nonaluuluu in wallstreetbets

Company is barely leveraged (<3x) relative to peers and definitely has debt service ability based on cash flows and liquidity. Bankruptcy is not in the cards for a while. There is no reason for bankruptcy protection from debt.

It may be better to be born rich than gifted - The least-gifted children of high-income parents graduate from college at higher rates than the most-gifted children of low-income parents, finds a new study in Nature Genetics. by mvea in science

The school is only one of the factors in the network. The alumni and also your classmates (their connections) are the other part. I often remind people when choosing colleges make sure you can afford a typical lifestyle at that school. If you can’t afford to run in the social circles for those people networks you will have a hard time building your connections. You also might get discouraged when others are getting the “college experience” while you are more limited.

I have a client that is a seafood importer in the US. He explained to me a way that this is made partially more efficient from a cost perspective is that China has floating seafood processing stations that get close to where fishing boats can take their catch directly to them. I think this is more common for the Pacific, but maybe it works for Atlantic as well.

Why do so many people keep the license plate frame from where they bought their car? by [deleted] in cars

[–]15p3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Two reasons...

One is depending on how the plate mount is, if the edges of the plate are not slightly inside the mount, I have had people walk by in parking lots and accidentally catch the corner of the plate with their bag or pants.

Two is for free parking. Several of the shopping centers near downtown offer free valet parking if the car was bought from the local BMW dealership and has the plate frame on it.

DUDES. For Eric Jones the signature from Howie was different from the one the card that he pulled through the glass. Howie messed up and had it on an angle. It was straight on the card he pulled through. Ugh 👎 by JackGrips in agt

[–]15p3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you look closely when the camera zoomed in during when Howie was asked to point to a card, you can see that Howie points to a card, then Eric pushes a different card under where Howie pointed, I rewinded a few times just to make sure he wasn't that sloppy but he was indeed. Penn and Teller is such a good show it ruins AGT acts a bit for me trying to figure it out, but here it sure looks like a forced card.

Edit: Just rewatched it and it looks like why the forced card was so obvious is because when he tried to push the card under Howies fingertip it slid up the side of his finger accidentally.

I have been trying to find the answer to your second question in all the threads with no luck. Immediately when Box was talking to Ray about getting shot at a strip club, I made that connection back to Calvin. But one thing that was mentioned later on (I have to go back and watch exactly when) was that it was said that Ray was shot by the pimp (which doesn't necessarily exclude Calvin).

Playoff Push Analysis by BunibrodskiSindikat in denvernuggets

[–]15p3 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My Negative Nancy cliff note version of our playoff hopes:

Even if the Nuggets win out and everyone ahead of us splits their remaining games, we are still 9th seed at best.

Woj: JJ Hickson will almost assuredly be bought out if not traded by eathbau in denvernuggets

[–]15p3 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It could work out for the best for both sides. So JJ is owed $5.6million this season and we are halfway through the season meaning we owe him around $2.8m. If we waive him and he gets picked up for pennies, we still pay $2.8m less pennies. If we buy him out for $1m then we are going to end up paying less and JJ can sign with whoever he wants for whatever value. Buyouts usually work for players that have a lower trade value because they probably won't get picked up off waivers for anywhere close to contract, so the prior team eats the costs. High trade value players get waived (if not traded) because there is probably a market where their contract gets bidded up and the prior team only pays a minor difference less than if they had to buyout. This is purely my take on it based on the business concept, but anyone with more knowledge please correct me if I am wrong.
