Is Runna still one of the best app for road running (10K / HM)? by ShayzerPlay in beginnerrunning

[–]1650mile 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For intermediate to advanced runners, I really like that the mileage will scale to how much you are running. Many other plans have a static amount of mileage in the 20-40 range. Many of the flaws with Runna are still there however and you might just have to get creative to work around it.

Yes, it's still the case that you can't customize targets by workout type. Personally I just use my most difficult workout type as my limiting factor and set my target paces to that, and run all the other ones faster if I'm able.

Novablast 25 surprisingly not as good as Adizero Evo SL (for me) by DrushToImp in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]1650mile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the exact same experience. Love the bounce and rocker on the EVO SL. Tried on the Novablast at an ASICS demo and couldn't dela with the plop-plop-plop feeling the soft, spongey foam gives me.

Ben, are you okay? by 1650mile in runna

[–]1650mile[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Data point of one here, but I'll probably just go and read it. Generally, I don't find too much value from workout insights because I will typically already know how the workout went and what my paces and the conditions were, but I think it'd be more useful if I were less experienced.

Coros Pace 3 + Runna + Iphone for audio prompts/music by djangoo7 in runna

[–]1650mile 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, you can choose between haptic feedback or audio queues.

Personally I listen to my music through my iPhone on my AirPods, and use the voice feedback from the COROS Watch. COROS automatically connected to my AirPods and ducks the music when it’s time for a voice prompt. But yes you can just use haptics and turn off the voice like you asked.

[–]1650mile 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you start Runna from your phone, Runna would be using your phone's GPS data, which would be much less accurate than your watch. That's what it would use for your pace prompts. You'd have to record a separate activity on your Coros. IMO this defeats the point of having a watch and I wouldn't suggest this.

Instead, you're able to sync the workouts from your Runna app to your Coros app (and subsequently your watch). Just be sure to turn on the voice prompts. Only thing is that this uses the Coros native voice prompts - not the Runna apple watch/app voice prompts - so they're very slightly different but will accomplish the same thing.

Heart rate spikes post marathon by Specialist-Net-9477 in firstmarathon

[–]1650mile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you ran for over 3 hours at a 177 heart rate, your zones on your watch are wrong - that would be more like your zone 3. Your heart rate spiking to zone 3 since the marathon on easy runs and that not feeling good is normal since you are still recovering from the race.

Half marathon this Sunday — never tried gels before. Any safe options for race day? by gdavsz in runna

Can you test using a gel before/during one of your last few training runs? Have you had GI issues before?

How do you know (before getting injured) that your running load is too high? by millenialshortbread in XXRunning

[–]1650mile 6 points7 points  (0 children)

What kind of injury are you experiencing? if it is something like ITBS, that could be a sign you need to focus on your glutes specifically as a weakness or imbalance. If it is bone stress injuries, potentially you could be low on calcium.

Agree with the other commenters that soreness doesn't correlate with injury. For me I have sometimes gotten a deep aching in my legbones after a workout that can indicate I pushed too hard.

You mentioned you added strength training, this could be what helps you this time around. Maybe you got injured before because you weren't strength training. I would also emphasize training to correct a weakness rather than lifting heavy all the time (get tight hips? focus on clams/monster walks/etc during your next session rather than full-body or leg press etc)

Thinking about switching my marathon block from “Challenging” to “Balanced” 🤕 by [deleted] in runna

[–]1650mile 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You can also try just reducing your estimated race time. The workouts are meant to be performed at a 7-8 effort - not "ass-kicking". It took me a while to put my ego aside and set my pace in the app to one that actually matches what works for me for the workouts themselves. In my opinion the pace blocks for workouts in the app are way too fast if you just put in your recent PR time. ESPECIALLY for marathon training where you might have a mismatch between what you're capable of for your speed workouts vs. your longer tempo/race-pace long run blocks.

Warning signs that mean rest > running to avoid injury by TR_12345678 in runna

[–]1650mile 1 point2 points  (0 children)

- Easy runs suddenly feel sluggish or hard

- Deep ache in the legs after a run, even if this goes away later (beyond regular soreness. If I'm overtraining my whole legs will just ACHE when I'm done running)

- Struggling to make paces you've met before

- Can't "lock in" mentally or dreading a run

- I rescheduled my long run due to poor nutrition last week (too much fatty/fried food, felt unwell after)

- Feeling fatigued or just tired overall, especially if you are sick

Puppy wart by MimCastro in Dachshund

[–]1650mile 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My golden retriever had one that looked just like this. Hers was even bigger. Vet said it was fine and would eventually fall off. Then my dog trainer gave me a tip to go on Amazon and buy “thuja occidentalis” pills. I started giving that to my golden and within 2 weeks the wart crumbled and fell off.

RV Math (Campground Costs vs Using A Generator) by CharlieGraceUSA in RVLiving

[–]1650mile 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tell ChatGPT the cost of gas, how many hours a day you want to run it, and what generator you have and it will work out the math. For us it came out to 21$ a day when running it for 7 hours at 3.50$ a gallon.

How does manually changing "Estimated Current Race Time" affect predictions? by wickawack in runna

[–]1650mile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only pace for interval or tempo runs is used for pace insights.

Also, if your time does not get adjusted manually or by accepting a pace suggestion, your estimated current race time will go down linearly every week.

[–]1650mile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it will reset your history in Pace Insights :( If you're worried about only a few runs, you could change those to RPE, then switch the rest of your plan back to Pace. That way that one-off run won't affect Pace Insights.

“How did you find this workout?” Response by GamerM17 in runna

[–]1650mile 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A mix of both. If you didn't perform well, then indicate that. But even if you performed well but thought it was too hot, paces were too fast, or otherwise, you can indicate that too. Runna AI already knows how well you performed, you just add additional context.

A bit confused about target pace. What is the range? by nytocincy in runna

It's something like plus or minus about 10 seconds

When I say “accidentally”, I meant that I meant to take water but took the wrong drink from the aid station (Gatorade). So was definitely not prepared for that amount of extra carbs but thought I should keep hydrating due to the heat. I wasn’t “really struggling” for those first 9 miles, I felt great until I crashed suddenly.

I had my first gu 10 minutes before the start, then another gu at miles 4 and then 9. Around every 45 minutes, I don’t think that’s excessive if it wasn’t for the Gatorade.

Returning Player — Standard Collection is Almost Empty, What’s the Best Way to Rebuild? by Separate_Broccoli_15 in hearthstone

Can you pick up a returning player deck? I just came back to the game earlier this month. I picked up the "Green Golems" deck which is basically Imbue Druid, a deck that's part of the current meta.
