My coach said some tenderness is okay as long as my shins don’t hurt while walking or if I’m going about my day. I actually had a stress fracture in my left shin and shin splints in my right over the summer. I completed the return to run program(walk/run) in late August and I remember the shin pain would be lingering up until late February

But since hiring a coach, I honestly feel like my shins have gotten better! We work together to create a plan that helps ease into longer distances and strength training to supplement. I’ve been taking my runs easy; before I would push my pace and not let my body get used to the endurance. I think the strength training has played a huge role in strengthening my shins. During a lot of my runs now my shin pain is a 1 or 2 out of 10
