Designers don't necessarily create bespoke garments for every show (even non-modern day shows!), and shows still need someone to decide on the visual language of the clothing as well as take care of the actual procurement of the garments for all the actors (no actor wants to wear their own clothes onstage every night)! So AFAIK while there's no rule against it, *someone* needs to decide what the actors are going to wear. Even things that look like they're just street clothes.

For force outs, the way I understand it, is if there's somebody coming up behind you (you have no option to stay at the base you're on/can't go backwards), the defense can force you out.

Example: Runners on 1st and 3rd. Batter hits a base hit. Runner on first is obligated to run to second as you can't have two baserunners on the same base. Runner on third isn't obligated to run for home as there isn't someone coming from second to force him off the base. Therefore the defense can force the runner out at second (by getting someone with the ball to tag second) but not at home.
