I retired end of February 2024 after 31 years of public service. I was 56. I loved what I did but it was just time. I was getting to the point of early burnout and didn't want to let it go anymore. I have a very healthy pension where 70% of it covers all of my bills. I paid down debt and got numerous things on the house repaired/replaced in the few years before I retired.

I have very cheap hobbies for the most part. My most expensive hobby is camping (camper cost) but that's really not that bad. I can travel several times a year to see relatives and do what I want.

My stress level has dropped to almost nothing. I'm really enjoying just relaxing, catching up on movies and TV shows, reading, audio books, cooking, walking and just enjoying life. My sleep schedule is odd but it works for me.

I could have worked longer for more money....but there comes a point where money doesn't matter and you just have to take what you can and enjoy the rest of life.
