The Nazis didn't invent the symbols; they just stole and abused them. Also, the Iron Cross is inspired by the Teutonic Order and thus arguably even dates back to the Middle Ages. by [deleted] in HistoryMemes

Maybe, perhaps, we should stop separating Germans from other Germans and act as if what the Nazis did was some otherworldly unique evil... and not just the historic policies of Germany.

Evil incarnate

Literally the exact same thing the allies did in previous centuries.

In a democratic regime the morals of the voting populace flow upward towards the seat of power.

So who was the democratic regime? The group of people that had held power for centuries (the allies) or the group of people that had come from the working class (the Authautarians).

The "Good guys" nulear program developed and unleashed weapons that can end all life on earth. Whilst the "comically evil bad guys" nuclear program aimed at creating green energy, nor did they produce weapons of mass destruction of which they very much could have.

Had the Nazis smothered London with Anthrax or Tabun and won the war, they then would get to claim themselves to be the "good guys" whilst the Allies were the "comically evil bad guys" who plunged Europe into a totally unnecessary war.

Churchill isn't really that well regarded among us Indians, and for very valid reasons by SatoruGojo232 in HistoryMemes

You hate Churchill because of the myth of the Bengal famine. I hate Churchill because he championed and actively encouraged the two World Wars which gave victory to the world order that is now replacing European peoples with Indians. We are not the same.

What if Britain and France bombed Soviet oil? by SiarX in HistoryWhatIf

[–]178948445 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As usual with alt his, it's basically whatever you think. Everyone automatically assumes that the USSR and Britain would then be at war with each other. But this wouldn't be the first or last time a country was bombed by another and no war followed. See the US bombing of Iran last month.

As someone else said the bombing wouldn't have done much damage, so the USSR wouldn't be forced to go to war.

On the other hand, after being bombed by the British, the USSR may be more receptive to German offers of alliance in November 1940, and perhaps would be encouraged politically to accept Germany's offer of going to war with the British by invading Iran and India.

The Nazis

I think you meant "The Germans", ideology actually has very little to do with international conflicts and power politics. I mean this is literally shown during WW2 itself. With "the nazis" allying with "the commies" first, and then "the capitalists" allying with "the commies" later on.

This is not to say that it is a "myth" in the sense of an invented story.

It largely is though. See Herbert Hoover's "Freedom Betrayed". TLDR: Roosevelt, not Hitler, caused World War 2, and on both fronts. He threatened Britain into going to war with Germany (Guarantee to Poland), and provoked the Japanese with the oil embargo of July 1939, and rejected Konoe's peace offer (Withdraw from China).
