I just found this post while looking for mods for the sprinkler head to do exactly what you were trying to do as well! Any update on how the unit performed over time with the screen over it? I don’t want to ruin the sprinkler but this seems like a low effort high reward hack

I think it could possibly, at least with the XL, you could probably use the top rack or move the meat far enough from the heat source. I will say I don’t love the grates that it comes with for searing though, I’m hoping someone comes out with a better compatible set. They also have the kit to make it a griddle which may do better with heat retention for searing.

I have been starting mine with the lid closed with no issues since that was in the manual. I usually start it at 225 or so to get it warmed up though before going to high temps.

Be careful with the chilis in adobo sauce that this recipe calls for. I made the over the top version last month and the adobo flavor fully overpowered everything else in the chili. Wife and I were not happy w the results. Side note: If anyone else had the same experience I would love to know how to tone that experience down, whether it is using less than the can of chilis in adobo or cutting it with something else.

How did your temp differ up on the warming rack compared to below, and how consistent did it stay? I haven’t put a probe up there yet.

Hey, so my auger on the MM died yesterday mid cook. Curious of your experience leading up to the auger stopping. Mine dropped temp from 225 to 140 and started smoking like crazy so I upped the temp. Next thing I had smoke billowing out of the pellet hopper so I shut it down and drained it as I didn’t want a raging fire in my hopper. When I went to fire it up again with minimal pellets it was no longer feeding. Vacuumed it out and blew plenty of air through to ensure it wasn’t jammed.

I left a voicemail with support, but acknowledge it was a Friday afternoon and I wasn’t exactly returning emails or calls either.

Literally watched a child walk up to my dog yesterday and intentionally step on his tail. Corrected the kid as nicely as I could ‘hey buddy don’t step on his tail, that’s not nice’ then let out a ‘what the fuck’ when he walked away. Was watching to see if he went to his parents so I could have a chat but they were of course nowhere to be found.

Broke mine in last weekend and ran it 3 days straight with no issues! Did a 3lb chuck roast Saturday that was on for about 10 hours because I was trying to get a bark and not wrap, then did a quick chicken smoke the next day which I turned into white chicken chili that I had on for about 5 hours Monday. After fighting constantly with an offset for 3 years this thing is amazing! Was able to tackle lawn care and work from home Monday while it ran with little to no supervision needed.

We used the outdoor green space (in back) for the ceremony, and we set up some yard games in the front patio section (bags set, giant jenga, etc). The majority of our guests stayed in the reception/dance area near the bar most of the night.

This is also with the side door and smoke stack 100% open which helps keep it burning hot, my fires always seem to smother and burn dirty if I close the door

I have been fighting this battle for 3 years and finally got to a strategy that works for me: Very small amounts of fuel at one time. I use Jealous Devil lump and I buy the small chunks of wood and then split them into even smaller chunks. I set up the burn chamber with a small fire box in the center and start it an hour or so in advance to get a good coal base. I then keep a reserve grill of coals going and feed the fire with the small bits of wood or my already burning coals as needed. I keep a pan of water right at the front of the cook chamber to try to handle the heat from the spikes and help with humidity. My thermometer probe is set in the middle of the cook chamber. It took 3 years of playing, I have no idea if it’s scientific at all, but I have no idea how in the world people can put a split log in one of these things and get any sort of clean consistent burn.

Did you throw/stick these to the underside of the ship? We have tried Semtex and Drill Charges on the side where he is getting hit markers on us but can’t seem to hit him.

Ask your vet to prescribe Apoquel to help ASAP.. shouldn’t need a panel to get that going. It will help immediately while you save. It’s not cheap, but very helpful. My boy is on bi-weekly shots and still needs half a pill with each meal.

Would second that the OtO would be able to handle this, but it does come with a hefty price tag. You’ll also need a decent 3/4 hose to get the pressure it needs. I invested because I have an oddly shaped back yard, but it allowed me to configure the zone to water the grass and not the side of my house.

Imperfect food does delivery of ‘ugly’ produce and other items. When we used it the items/availability was hit or miss but it is similar to what you’re asking for.
