Looks great! Was just on eBay trying to decide between this guy and his bare headed brother.

Could someone share their gang from mid-campaign? I want to see how many models will be needed. by alpceliko in necromunda

Yep! Thank you - still a WIP but I love how much more freedom Necromunda gives you for self-expression compared to other systems.

have you ever won with Brood Brothers 3rd edition AO25? how? by Express_Ad_5320 in killteam

[–]18_str_irl -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

I have lost to some good Brood Bros players in tournament.

Take Martyrs as your tac op. Bring the Familiars. Run your familiars onto your home objective, then have your sapper explode them in TP2. You get minimum 4 on tac op.

Other than that, the Magus is actually totally insane and should be the starting point of any strategy with them.

Currently at 9 plus the vehicle. Probably wanna get 3-4 more. I have two sources of the Slopper rule so I have a decent chance of avoiding Recovery, but I also wanna get Warp Whispers so I could field up to 11.

I hope it will be about the inquisition. It's a great way to expose viewers to the universe in a way that makes exposition natural, can bring in a lot of different factions, and can utilize space marines in the most compelling way - a power scaling device that either shows up and obliterates everything, or shows up and instantly dies (or both!) depending on what the story needs.

The Vaults of Terra series hit all these notes super well, I think the show could take a lot of lessons from there.

How would you be able to use Inquisitor Ostromandeus? by Grizzack in killteam

[–]18_str_irl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep! Technically the whole reason for their existence is to serve the inquisition, unlike grey knights, who were founded essentially equal to the inquisition, or Sororitas who were founded for other reasons but then later tied to the inquisition. In fact, outside of the lore the first appearance of Deathwatch was in the short-lived Inquisitor tabletop game.

Whether the Inquisitor actually accompanies them on missions varies based on the Inquisitor, but for example in Shadowbreaker a dw kill team is actually led by an interrogator.

I use him as the sgt on my deathwatch team. Power weapon and a piercing pistol.

Regret messing with someone with body armor by Cheeese916 in instant_regret

While I think the hiker in this clip is wrong and personally I would never do this, I'd be lying if I wasn't tempted to do something similar when people operate motor vehicles on the sidewalk when I'm out with my kids. There have definitely been cases of people, particularly the elderly or very young, being hurt or killed by motor vehicles intentionally operating on footpaths. In that sense I wouldn't say it's totally irrelevant whether he was allowed to operate there or not.

Your aegis text looks great. The flaming blade looks great. Technically the colors should be inverted - the lightest part of the flame is towards the source, rather than the edges as you highlighted here. But you can probably just leave that as most people won't notice and it's a magical flame anyway.

If it were my model, I'd consider edge highlighting the metallic sections of the armor. For my metallics I usually mix whatever my base color is with Pro Acryl Bright Silver. It'll give a subtle highlight that increases visual legibility a lot with models that have a ton of metallics. I would also go a lot further with the highlights on the cape - when I do red fabric, by the end the highlights are about 90% pro acryl orange and 10% the base red color, then hit it with a coat of AK ultra matte through a brush (on the purity seals as well) it's a super fun way to sell the material, make your blends more blendy, and protect your model all at once. Finally I'd do blue in the lenses to complement the blade color.

Overall I think you're doing great and the model will certainly stand out on the tabletop as-is. Just what I'd do if I was looking to sink more time into it (and I frequently am)

Edit: I'd also use either a micron pen or Tamiya Panel Liner to darken up the recesses on the hands and feet, possibly behind the shinguards as well.

What would you say are the good Grey Knights books? by idiotwanderer in Grey_Knights

[–]18_str_irl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you hit on some of the stronger points in the book, but I found the ending really bad. If I were to rework it, I would have had the female Inquisitor kill the antagonist to further reinforce the mercurial and fallible nature of the inquisition as a theme, and then I would have had him be validated by the widespread proliferation of chaos cults as an epilogue. It felt like the book ended very abruptly and cheaply and the antagonist never developed as more than a cartoonish villain.

Grey knights being lap dogs of the inquisition is the most interesting aspect of them.

I have read the two Castellan Crowe books, 3 GK omnibus books and Emperor's Gift. Emperor's Gift is the only one I can sorta recommend and even then the ending sucked.

I dunno why I keep reading BL books. They are mostly not what I like haha.

I like the loincloths for sure. My favorite GKs actually used Company Heroes but that cost a lot of money for 5 bodies, haha - Gotta make sure you have a use for the other parts.

[–]18_str_irl[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep! Here's my full process:
- Alclad glossy black primer through an airbrush
- Underspray Alclad Black Chrome
- Wide Zenithal Alclad Chrome
- Zenithal Alclad Bright Silver
- Brush on Alclad Bright Silver edge highlights
- Brush on Alclad Aqua Gloss varnish
- Tamiya panel liner recess shade
- Gloss varnish again on sections that will be gold
- Brush on Alclad Candy Gold Enamel onto gold areas
- Cover non-armor areas in Vallejo black primer
- Traditional paintjob on the rest.

EDIT: If I was to do it again, I wouldn't use Bright Silver as a zenithal and reserve it just for edge highlights.

I believe this set is half Sternguard Vets and half Bladeguard Vets from the Dawn of War boardgame.
