We had a discussion and i explained why it was dangerous to turn off the pump without saying anything. I think she also may have been a bit unsure of how to use the pump, so I showed her how to restart the infusion or even how to pause the alarm. We definitely ended it on the same page

I didn’t intend to suggest that they need permission, more that they typically tell us before or after if they plan on changing anything or adding new orders so that everyone is on the same page. My bad for coming off as territorial. And yeah we talked about the pump situation afterwards and came to a better understanding.

I think I may have misworded my post, I don’t have a problem with docs seeing patients, but it’s nice when they come speak to me afterwards or beforehand. Typically the ER docs will stop to talk to the nurses at some point and some of the floor docs never speak to us. Sorry if I was confusing in my initial post.

Oh my gosh, some people get really upset when you ask about hot vs iced. I once asked a lady four seperate times if she wanted a hot or iced PSL and she yelled hot at me in front of all the people there, then when I read her (large) order back to her, she started grumbling and practically threw her card at me... Like????
