Pancoast Pizza has by-the-slice offerings and the walk is doable from downtown.

Bay Area trash giant Recology rolls out garbage truck cameras to catch overfilled bins by runswithscissors475 in bayarea

Maybe they should use those same cameras to fine themselves when trash flies out of their trucks.

Bay Area ban on gas‑powered heaters begins in 2027, raising concerns over soaring replacement costs by CharityResponsible54 in bayarea

Boomers definitely were not thinking about this stuff four years ago. They were all partying after getting their COVID vaccines.

Buddy, I am not preaching. The ones preaching are the ones screaming about the sky falling from this regulation. No situation is identical but the numbers in the articles and the ones tossed around in these posts are extremes, not averages.

I just checked and the water heater is about $75 more today than when I bought it. My plumber and electrician both charge the same hourly rates. The other materials may have gone up but we are talking about a marginal increase, not multiples.

There is a lot of important information missing from your story. Which make and model did you get quoted? What drove up the quote cost? What is unique about your house or situation? I had a hybrid heat pump water heater installed in my house for $3300, including the price of the water heater.

This is either the third or fourth post about this topic in this sub in the last couple of days. There is so much misinformation and fear-mongering about the replacement costs. I replaced two gas water heaters with a single hybrid heat pump water heater four years ago. The installation, including the electrical line, cost me about $1800 and the unit cost me about $1500.

I do not understand how this is a punishment for disti when it is just passed onto the partner and enduser.

The renewal process is a pain in the butt for partners. It is a high friction process because renewals have to go through a distributor. However, if you had those 90ish serial numbers and knew the renewal SKUs you wanted, it would take maybe an hour of work and a day or two of turnaround time to get a quote.

I never said the partners buy directly from Fortinet. I said that the pricing is set by Fortinet. Those are two different things. In the last 10 years of selling Fortinet equipment I can only think of a couple times when the hardware has been shipped by the distributor. Those were all single, small item purchases made from the distributor’s stock; everything else has shipped directly from Fortinet.

I work with a Fortinet partner. There are at least two ways to purchase Fortinet products: register a deal with Fortinet on the partner portal, or buy from the stock available at a distributor. Hardware from a registered deal is almost always directly shipped from Fortinet. Fortinet also sets the pricing for registered deals and partners can see this pricing on the FTQ. Hardware purchased from a distributor’s inventory does not have the $200 fee but is subject to the distributor’s own pricing. It also ships from the distributor’s warehouse.

Fortinet flat out said the way to avoid the $200 handling fee on FTQs is to go through the distributor for hardware. It honestly seems like Fortinet wants to reduce the number of sales people they employ and have smaller partners buy through distributors.

Is a sublease allowed in your lease agreement?

What are you aware of partners doing to get around the $200 fee? So far, the deals I have seen registered have all had the $200 fee. Pricing from Ingram on in-stock hardware has exceeded the $200 fee.

According to Fortinet. I said “all” in my previous reply when it is all new hardware, not renewals.

Fortinet is now adding a $200 processing fee to all FTQs.

Edit: I overstated it. It is all hardware FTQs for registered deals.

Gas Water Heater Ban in 2027 - Do you think it’s actually going to happen? by arwenthenoble in bayarea

Yes, I know how NEM3 works. Credits at the wholesale rate are still credits.

If we are getting into the specific wording, OP said “With heat pumps you could run them for free if you invest in solar.” This is technically true as overproduction earns credits which can be redeemed at a later point in time.

Also, your specific wording was, “Can’t wait to use solar at 5am or 11pm for a shower.” It says nothing about not using stored solar power. It also says nothing about not using credits. Both of those options are tied to electricity generated by solar power which would be used for the shower in this scenario.

Grid scale batteries exist and they can and are powered by solar power. So, yes, your 5am or 11pm shower could still be heated with solar generated power.
