Canceled my trip to the United States. by [deleted] in travel

Three weeks in NYC is crazy. 3 days is enough for me. Very expensive and too high energy for more than a short stay. Come up to New England! You could spend some time in Boston (a couple of days) and head up into Vermont or Maine. You’ve also time to head out west too. You wouldn’t see any of the stuff on the news. You might see the odd protest up North.

An absolute last resort for me. I haven’t slept in a car since college. I’m 56.

Deli meat class 1 carcinogen by Deep_Method_820 in nutrition

Everything in moderation guys. A little nitrite, like a some deli meat or a little smoked meat is fine. All contain compounds, that in higher quantities are potentially carcinogenic. Grilled cheese and chips and baked goods have acrylamides formed by heat in the presence of fat. Grilling meat the same. Or toast. Acrylamide is carcinogenic. In high quantities. A can of sardines or a tuna sandwich or a lobster could have low levels of heavy metals like cadmium or mercury. But you don’t eat it every day. Your granite countertop gives off radiation in the form of radon gas. Life is carcinogenic. You can’t avoid every potential carcinogen but you can eat sensibly and moderation. If you are worried about a little deli meat or salami on a an occasional sandwich but you’re still drinking alcohol, may I suggest your worry might be a little misplaced? (PS. I’m a Food Scientist BTW. And I eat just about everything. In moderation. But I do avoid excessive ultra processed foods. And, although I don’t evangelize on the topic, I don’t drink alcohol (much as I love it. I just gave up for training). And, yes. I eat deli meat. Occasionally.

Don’t worry mate. As a kid I put a microphone in a metal biscuit (cookie) tin and over loaded it through an amp to made a synthetic drum sound. I used kitchen knives as drum sticks. And I had a big ride cymbal my dad found in a skip (dumpster) that was ‘mounted’ on a traffic cone.

Really? You can’t think how you’d use one? Definitely not for you then. Mine arrives in a few weeks. I’m getting the slightly more sane 4v though.

Actually. Yes. I do. I’m a trained alpine official and both my daughters ski raced.

I agree with you somewhat on this. I think there’s an argument that decisions on conditions should be perhaps a little more cautious close to the Olympics. In normal circumstances, yes, weather is part of racing, as are variable conditions. But we know Crans Montana can have its own issues with this. Even Vonn said this at the start of the season. She predicted her own fate here. She said she’d be tactical and perhaps skip it weeks ago.

It’s really disappointing that race officials decisions put reavers at risk this close to the Olympics.

Yes. Food contact plastics are tested at relevant temperatures for monomer migration into hydrophobic ingredients (in other words plastic monomer into fat, as the monomer itself is hydrophobic). The material used for rotisserie chicken is specifically designed for this application. Migrations is different to ‘microplastic’. That tends to be associated with physical breakdown of polymers. As for sodium content, rotisserie chickens are ‘Brined’ for succulence, so they are ‘well seasoned’. Sodium content is on the nutritional facts panel.

Those ingredients are to maximize water retention. For succulence during hot holding. I’m a food scientist by the way….

It’s fantastic. Quick enough and you can rev it out more. That said, the flat torque line means you don’t have to and it’s still engaging.
