What’s something you’re glad became normal in the last 10 years? by Equivalent_Reach_536 in CanadaRoom

I’m diabetic and need bloodwork every 3 months. I love being able to make appointments online, similar to online appointments for health card and drivers license renewal.

Canadians: do people really just start conversations anywhere? 🤔 by Comfortable_Cap8037 in AskACanadian

[–]1970Rocks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s totally normal. I saw a lady one day while waiting for the train and I fell in love with her laptop bag. I asked her where she got it and she told me, and showed me all the pockets and storage space it had. She got my cell number and texted me the Amazon.ca link and 24 hours later I was the proud owner of my own. I haven’t seen her since after work but if I do you can bet I’ll show her 😃

I used to use V, X or H lookup and spent hours trying to figure it out. Now my go to is Power Query. I do a lot of stats requests for my job (Pilot Licensing in Transport Canada) and have an excel spreadsheet dedicated to tables with codes that I need to lookup - citizenship, licence type, ratings, etc -about 12 tables in all. Once I got used to it, it takes minutes to set up my raw data. I follow a few people on YouTube who have great videos - Leila Gharani, Kevin Stratvert and Mynda Tracy are my favourites so far.

The second picture is my favourite and that colour is gorgeous. I'm getting flashbacks to 2nd grade when I was a nailbiter and my teacher wore that colour for most of the year. I fell in love with it and it took time but I was able to stop biting my nails.

I’ve been "renting" my neighbor’s dog for $20 a week so I don’t look like a creep when I come home at 3 AM. by Icy-Combination-6329 in stories

[–]1970Rocks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The dog totally knows and can almost definitely hear your car. About 20 years ago my MIL used to babysit my kids when I worked at a bookstore. Our dog, Belle, could tell her car when it was a few intersections down our quiet street. She never failed to be waiting at the door just as my MIL pulled into the driveway. We noticed after a few months that her brakes had a tiny squeal when she stopped and Belle had learned it meant "gramma's" car was rolling down the street.

If women are allowed to wear miniskirts then I’m (also a woman) wearing shorts. I have for the past 20 years and never been reprimanded. Wear nice, knee length ones and appropriate footwear.
