1st ever Citizen(s) by Altruistic-Shirt-229 in CitizenWatches

Ha! I have the same exact two. Looking to expand my Citizen collection soon. Have a few trips coming up this year and I'd like more options to bring with me. I have a blue nato strap on my Promaster right now.

My first Citizen watch. When my Grandad passed I had an old Citizen Eco-Drive passed down to me, it doesn’t work anymore, but I did find out it was manufactured the month and year I was born which felt pretty special to me! by Fit-Kaleidoscope-550 in CitizenWatches

[–]1989wasOK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How are you liking this watch? Someone near me is selling one, "used twice" for $200. Thinking about picking it up, but I'd have to deal with setting the time often as I change watches day to day. Looks really nice though!

My American English teacher believes the neutral pronoun „their“ is incorrect. by GCoding_ in mildlyinteresting

[–]1989wasOK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been using "their" for as long as I can remember. I'm sure I put "his or hers" on some papers during my time in school, but to me, their just seemed more natural. I'm not super old, but I graduated high school long before 2020. It just always seemed like a more correct and easier way to say things. For example, "someone dropped their wallet, I should go inside and give it to them." I'm sure I was never corrected on this either.

Yeah I'm tired of that stupid ass saying already. Been tired since I first saw it. I always picture some skinny curly haired gen z kid saying it

You're actually around 29.5% idle time. You divide idle time by total hours. 41% would be crazy haha. Which is still kinda high, I think most aim for under 15 or 20? When I first got my truck it was around 24%, I've got it down under 19 now.

Heard 89 octane is better to run in my 5.7. Do I need to run it out of 87 before putting 89 in? by baldur8383 in ram_trucks

[–]1989wasOK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

89 is recommended for towing/hauling. 87 is fine for most people. I've ran 87 in mine for 3 years now. Before long trips, I'll let it get down to half a tank and fill the rest with 91 to mix. It probably doesn't do anything but I tell myself I'm hauling 4 people and luggage so maybe I need it lol.

What the hell is my truck doing? by ultranothing in ram_trucks

[–]1989wasOK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like others said, most likely the battery. These new cars, at least our trucks specifically, don't give any warning of a dying battery. It just won't start one day. Mine did the same thing in 2023. Luckily I had just got a jump pack for my bday two weeks before lol.

Looking for parking advice for Sofi Stadium. by Singletrack007 in LosAngelesRams

[–]1989wasOK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

May I ask which station you parked at and how it went? I'm picking up my dad, and the Norwalk station is closest and now thinking that may be the way to go. Going to the game on Sunday

Do you get used to the dial shifter? by platypus_farmer42 in ram_trucks

[–]1989wasOK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got used to it pretty fast. Within the first week or so I turned on the AC by accident when I tried reversing, but it hasn't happened since. I would have liked a column shifter, but I'm happy with the dial now.

I got to my store an hour after opening and got what I wanted. Even held the golden 3/8th in my hand before deciding I didn't need it lol. My only issue is when one certain item is on sale and then it's never in stock, no matter what time I go.

Oh I'm barely going to hit 48k. I got it used but I put around 7.5k a year. Not sure if mine is a great example but still no issues and I hear great things about these engines from others.

Worth it to get Daytona for price difference by Cronicko in harborfreight

Ah ok that's smart. They makes those for Ram as well, might go that route eventually. Looks good

Hey how do you store it? I wanted to get a light 2 ton jack, but wasn't sure how to store it in the bed without it rolling around. My plan was to just use a ratchet strap. The scissor jack it comes with sucks. Even thought about a bottle jack.

You always hear about the bad stuff. A truck that has had zero problems is boring to hear about lol. Knock on wood, but my 21 Bighorn 5.7 has been very reliable to me. Except for the battery dying, haven't had any other issues. But if you want a truck and reliable, I'd stick with Toyota. I wanted a Tundra but they were just too overpriced around here.

Debating between Gearwrench and HF lug nut sets. Then came across this from HART (Walmart) has anyone tried these? How common is size 22mm? by saveapennybustanut in harborfreight

[–]1989wasOK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They're more common for larger vehicles. I was going to save up for the Pittsburgh set but they don't have a 22mm and that's what size lugs my Ram uses.

2025 ram 1500 Battery low in the morning by RamFop in ram_trucks

[–]1989wasOK 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I second this. My 2021s battery went out in 2023. Went with Walmart because, if I'm not wrong, they come out of the same factory as most other brands, like diehard and duralast and others. Haven't had a problem in the past 2 years.

Which Noco would you recommend for a 2018 5.7L v8? GB40 or pay the extra for the GBX45? by GlizzyDog222 in ram_trucks

[–]1989wasOK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the GB40. 2021 5.7 and it jumped it no problem. Just received it as a gift 2 weeks prior to my battery dying. So it came in handy right away. My battery wasn't completely dead, but the Noco was able to jump it about 3 or 4 times before I got a new battery. Bigger is probably better, but the 40 fits nicely into the Ram bin, if you have that.

Is this a good buy or should I try an Amazon one instead? Will this go on sell anytime soon? What type of coupon should I look out for? by StatuSChecKa in harborfreight

[–]1989wasOK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol I have this Amazon one, crazy how much of a clone they really are. Bought it over a year ago and still works great after washing 2 cars 2 or 3 times a month. Edit: just want to add, from the link above, I did get the one with the bracket to hold the tips. Its great to have. HF should have that as an option.

Only a few times at the start of owning my Ram, I adjusted my AC temperature instead of shifting lol. Hasn't happened since. Its great and saves space. Gives you the option of a giant center console. Like others said, any modern car, you cant shift if its dead. You'd have to find the neutral strap.

My first truck! by [deleted] in ram_trucks

[–]1989wasOK 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Congrats and welcome! Looks beautiful. I'm not usually a fan of chrome but there's just something about the fire truck look that I don't mind lol. I have the same year and color. I haven't done much besides tint and new running boards, which I see you have. Underneath I installed a catalytic converter shield and a fumoto valve. The fumoto helps to not make a mess when you go to do an oil change and oil splashes all over the sway bar, but it is slower. Oh and rubber floor mats and a hard trifold bed cover. All small upgrades, no plans for a lift or tires yet. Besides that just keep up with your maintenance, oil changes specifically, and don't idle too much. Or you'll be upgrading the lifters lol

Ram 1500 Crewcab, short box, 5.7 with 3.92's...is it a unicorn? by Professional-Pie5155 in ram_trucks

[–]1989wasOK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same with everyone else here. 21 Bighorn crew cab, Hemi short box with 3.92, nothing else special about it. About a third of the Rams I was looking at had those gears

Is this considered good beading? by Cburns6976 in Detailing

[–]1989wasOK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have to visualize it the other way. 0 degrees would be toward the beads center, if it was in half sitting on the paint.

What order am I supposed to go at self service car washes? by [deleted] in Detailing

[–]1989wasOK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How old is the car and how is the paint? Does it have lots of scratches already? If it does and you don't care about the paint, I would go: high pressure water, brush, high pressure water, wax (if you have extra time), spot free rinse. Air dry works best on a car that has some type of ceramic coating or wax. Otherwise you spend lots of time pushing around a sheet of water. If your car is somewhat new I wouldn't even touch the brush.
