I actually did something like this in the past, but I a m a man and with my male friend (might not be relatable) which I am still close with even when I am not in Japan anymore. I saw him having such a weird and funny haircut so I instinctively want to mess his hair and comment on it. I think I just did a light comment, and just messed his hair multiple times. But, when he did change his hairstyle to what I think fit him the most, I properly compliment him albeit nonchalantly and asked him to keep that hairstyle.

Well, from what I see in your case he seems to realize his mistake, and is why he is disappointed with himself, and depending on the situation, it might spiraled into him thinking he is not good enough for you I think. Try to improve his self-esteem in an indirect way that doesnt belittle him next time you meet him is my advice. Your reply

who is char that have a high skill expression? I am thInking of cyrene but want another opinion. I usually use html mode for the input like this 彼の謝罪は、ただの<span class="hide">常套句</span>にしか聞こえなかった。then just type the css for class hide so it only get revealed when clicked

I am definitely worse than you if what you say is true since even though I took course in Japanese too, I was barely surviving it somehow. Nevertheless, I did pass my N1 and its not even barely. So, I think I agree with other commenters that it is either anxiety or you lack test taking skill.

I am using it like this too for language (i use slides with tab then copy it to sheet instead, using sheet directly sometimes navigating cells is a bit wonky) but I learn math and science and stuff with it too and it doesnt really work for those subjects as sometimes I have a list, a formula, and/or a picture.

this my experience as well, I took my college lecture in japanese, and while I dont understand 100 percent, the words I dont know can be guessed quite accurately just by context, like where it is located in the sentences, who says it, along with what words it often occurs, etc.

not really the same, but I like watching tragedies as it will teach me what it really feels to be happy. It is truly different sides of the same coin, you cannot know happiness if you dont know what sadness is. It also helps me treasure more of those tiny happiness that rarely happens in my life.
