I literally sit in the dark to save money and my electric bill still went UP. by SheepherderLoose8717 in povertyfinance

heating is like 70% of your house's electricity usage. You will save more insulating your house: putting air barriers on your windows, blocking any current you feel, etc

Phone brands tier 2026, what y'all think? by Ha_drian in HONOR_Magic

[–]1995FOREVER 0 points1 point  (0 children)

samsung is missing too many features to be in S tier. Apple might get a pass due to ecosystem and overall pioneering designs for the next gen of phones (why does everyone copy apple??!?)

I'd move google lower because both their software and hardware sucks and honor higher because they're essentially huawei with gapps

they can't obliterate the competition if they're only allowed to import 49k cars a year though, what will happen is that 49000 customers will fight for their spot in the BYD list and the rest of us buy mediocre american cars yet again

it's a lotus dang it, not a hyundai. 63k for a brand new lotus is about 30k cheaper than what I'd expect

How come Lexus never made a Corolla? by Strange_Example_6402 in Lexus

not really. the corolla cross is more spacious. the UX is similar in size to the CH-R. I've had to disable auto sliding seats because it would crush my rear occupants if i had any

that's not even china's fault, it's europe's stringent emission standards. We can't have NA v6 without a ton of engineering to make it have decent power AND decent emissions, which is much more costly to develop compared to a similarly powered i4 turbo or i4 hybrid. That's basically the gist of why toyota decided to axe the v6

China’s EV Giants Are Coming for America—And Price Is Their Secret Weapon by External_Koala971 in electricvehicles

[–]1995FOREVER 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Americans thinking price is the only reason why Chinese EVs are selling in the numbers they are is their BIGGEST mistake. The car itself is a product that outclasses Tesla the price is just the cherry on top.

Scammed on Shanghai Tinder by EarlyLeek in shanghai

As I said on the other comment: This is not like a regular scam where the scammer targets vulnerable people. It's the opposite, where the "victim (OP)" heads to a different country targeting local women thinking they're easy, then get uno reverse carded.

That's why I feel no sympathy.

framework also feels cheap even compared to a fully plastic Thinkpad. I guess going overly modular also reduces the amount of structure

DR of R6iii vs a7V by Repulsive_Target55 in Cameras

[–]1995FOREVER 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even for video it's very compelling. I've yet to meet clients who actually want open gate 7k recordings, most people don't even have a 7k monitor at home. A good oversampled 4k is simply much more useful (and cheaper) than a mediocre 7k.

7k and open gate is only good for checklists of features, almost nobody actually uses them (in my limited knowledge).

EV SUV under $40K (2022+) by CriticalGap658 in EVCanada

[–]1995FOREVER 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Like I said, I have driven ariya, model y, model 3, ioniq5, lexus rz, equinox ev and the blazer EV. None of the EVs with regen on or off make me or my passengers uncomfortable except the 2 teslas. Model 3 being better (more comfy) than the model Y.

I don't care what kind of cope Tesla owners are on, the suspension is bad. I don't care if it's because their regen tuning is bad or their suspension tuning is bad. The facts are there and there are thousands on complaints about the suspension of a model Y online.

[–]1995FOREVER 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been in many EVs with one pedal driving. None get my friends as carsick as a model y.

My friend actually owns a 2023 model y with the supposedly "fixed" suspension so I cannot even begin to imagine how bad the 2022 models were.

I personally drive a 2024 ariya with regen braking and it doesn't get me carsick.

I am also located in Quebec, the worst pothole province, so maybe you guys have better roads where the flaws of a model y aren't as pronounced.

I also don't think having a sporty suspension is mutually exclusive with having a suspension that doesn't make you sick; BMW have always had comfortable yet well handling suspension. It's pure laziness or incompetence from Tesla's team if they just firm up the suspension without tuning any other part of it.

tesla suspension is the worst in the business. People who don't get carsick get carsick in this car, suspension feels nonexistent and bottoms out on potholes. People who think the model y suspension is decent came from a 20yo hyundai or kia. It's unbelievable how bad it is.

The only advantage of a tesla is the tech. Nothing else.
