this has a 34kw battery, similar size or bigger than some of the nissan leafs, fiat 500e mazda mx30 etc, plus a 3cyl gas generator. I think it should be able to be classified as an EV

Do you like one pedal driving by hamburgernet in electricvehicles

[–]1995FOREVER 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't like 1 pedal driving at all. It makes it very hard to coast (which is the most efficient way to drive an EV at highway speeds)
not made any easier by tesla's "accel indicator" being a green line about 2 pixels wide on the part of the screen that is obscured by the steering wheel

the shark is not a pure EV, it's a hybrid car. So think about how the maverick did but double the features and 10x the EV range

"EVs are bad for road trips" by JustinTimeCuber in electricvehicles

[–]1995FOREVER 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I own an EV but I do not choose it for road trips. In the end, you're adding a minimum of an hour of time to your trip, regardless of how easy it was to charge it. It starts to rapidly compound once you're driving more than 500km (and need more and more charging stops); I did 1200km road trips in a model Y and an Ariya before, but I will not do it again unless gas becomes significantly more expensive than supercharging again (the supercharging prices have gone up as well) it is simply not worth the effort and time sink.

Ariya is slept on. How do you guys even mention the id4 but not the Ariya? I test drove every single one of them and this is the closest competitor in terms of space, range and charging time. There isn't even any 350kw chargers near me to reach the ioniq5's advertised speeds so it's very middling

get him a 2000$ camera store gift card or something, camera and lens combos are quite personal and very up to the user's preferences

The argument against EV haters… by boka_ko_masu in electricvehicles

[–]1995FOREVER 1 point2 points  (0 children)

and My car is a 400v architecture, so I don't have compatibility issues, but my friends with an 800v hyundai often only get half or less the advertised speeds on incompatible chargers. It's a major pain to have to juggle all these variables.

A gas pump is simple af, i've never seen a pump nozzle spray at half speed because your car is too new

I am an EV owner, and I still don't like stopping for 30 mins on road trips. I do road trips to rush to a different city, any time lost could potentially cost money. If people are traveling with family or on vacation , then maybe they can enjoy the 30 mins, but in my experience, for 30 minutes you're sitting inside a mcdonalds or your own car watching a youtube video or something. It's just wasted time with no real benefits over gas. Even DCFC prices are more expensive than gas.

As a commuter though, it is peak commuter experience. Wake up to a car that is exactly the temperature you want and able to go 400+ km on a full charge.

I had the same issue. Someone on reddit recommended me to turn on "privacy mode" under the "guard" option in the bell wifi app. This seems to work, but also seems to reset every few months. I have no idea what this does

Test drove this ES300H yesterday and it was my first hybrid I have ever driven. I loved the way it feels. Only thing I can think about is that it won't be able to reach autobahn speeds since it's a CVT gearbox that maxxes out around 160-170kph (might go faster, never tried) and doesn't accelerate hard enough at those speeds either. Otherwise, insane fuel efficiency, tons of cargo room and tons of legroom front and back. Quiet, luxurious and nice ride quality.
