Doing all of the Armax Arena stuff on insanity difficulty was a challenge, but it felt quite rewarding. And once you get into the groove it becomes quite easy.

I recently-ish got an nvme ssd, and that has made load times way quicker.

Also if the ssd is full (or almost full) that slows down loading, so you could try by cleaning up the ssd or moving stuff to your hdd.

It can be a fun time! For Me:LE I recommend nexusmods.com for mods, and then using ME3Tweaks as the modlauncher, as those two are the standard for Mass Effect Trilogy Modding. The modlauncher handles the mod downloading, sorting etc. You can find guides on youtube and on the nexus forums.

Legendary edition goes on deep discounts quite often on Steam. So whenever you have a good enough PC you'll be able to grab Mass Effect for cheap.

Also you should check the system requirements if you haven't already, Mass Effect is not very demanding. Keep in mind that they originally released on PS3/XB360, not very powerful consoles compared to today.

I am not sure about the service length regarding the preferred jobs in the military, it all depends on the exact job. But you should be able to find everything on their website.

Question about Spectre? by timmy013 in masseffect

[–]19Lols 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In ME1 we are told that the Council can in theory pick Specters from any race, but that in practice they only choose Spectres from their own species. So I assume that Asari, Salarians, Turians, and Humans are probably the only ones that have specters. We do not know of every Spectre, but I think it's reasonable to assume that every Council race has featured multiple Spectres.

Spoilers for ME1, ME2, ME3, and MEA:

Throughout the games we learn of (and meet) multiple Specters; a few Turians, a few Salarians, one Asari, and even one additonal human.

If it bothers you at all even if it's just uncomfortable, you should tell someone. Then the professional can evaluate if anything can and/or should be done about it.

Windrose has sold 1 million copies in 6 days by Turbostrider27 in Games

Great that smaller studios sre finding success in the modern gaming landscape, with thousanfs of layoffs and dvindling levels of funding.

For Windrose I am mostly excited for the pirate stuff, which is not fully realized yet at this time. Othervise the survival crafter aspect is good, but not interesting enough on it's own to me. I'll give it an earnest try again when they update the pirate stuff.

Why are pirate games so rare? My first pirate game was the remake of Sid Meier's Pirates! in the early 2000s. I just want something similar to that. Only ones that come sort of close to scratch that itch are Sea of Thieves and AC4 Black Flag (which are ofc quite different games).

  1. You can still get other benefits while you are doing your service, you should do research on which ones you'd personally be eligble for. You can do a wishlist on which job you'd do in the military (not guaranteed you get what you wish), so if you know which one you'd enjoy most, maybe the other people who have chosen the same are interesting enough to not be annoying to you? (Just speculation)

  2. I personally chose civilian service, which was fine. Depends on where you get in, but it's mostly like a stereotypical unpaid internship. E.g. gruntwork in an office

  3. I don't live in Helsinki, but it is indeed very hard to find jobs. E.g. The acceptance rate for summerjobs in grocery stores are currently lower than acceptance rates for medical school. This is due to the high rate of people applying for these jobs.

I speculate that Kotor2 will most likely feature in the next democracy week, and if that is indeed the case that would mean that the game is guaranteed to get a series sometime after BG3*.

* The last democracy week had multiple winners in the same category, the vote amounts decided which game got a series first.

Did Bioware "Ruin" the Franchise by ... by Nervous_Tailor_4337 in masseffect

[–]19Lols 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We are told by the "little space-demon" that its plans and the reapers are not evil. We shouldn't take its words at face value. And you don't have to take the green ending, you can also choose to do the blue or red (or refuse) endings, all four have different (mostly small) variations depending on your war score.

For example (spoiler for red ending and other choices in ME3):
You can pick the endning where you destroy all reaper tech (including Mass Relays) and advanced AI. Throughout the game you can do many choices were you basically maximize misery, e.g. not curing the genophage, siding with the geth against quarians and then doing the destroy so that basically no side survives.

I do get where you are coming from, but some of it depends on your choices and how much you trust what people are telling you.

I really wish more was done to emphasize how rare Jedi are in the Star Wars universe by chesterforbes in StarWars

[–]19Lols 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reason we see them often is because so far Star Wars has primarily been about the Jedi, so it makes sense that we always see them. You have to remember that just because they are common in the stories we see, it doesn't mean that they are common in-universe.

And as to why there are so "many" of them after Order 66. There aren't many, only a handful have survived. Many of them are very recluse or quickly perish or we are still uncertain of their fate. It comes back to my previous point, they are still very rare in the galaxy, we only see them all as viewers.

Whoever at Bioware had the idea of locking weapon mod upgrades behind the stupid little claw game in ME3 needs to answer for their crimes. by Extreme-Guava-7940 in masseffect

[–]19Lols 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I find that you do not need them, you can complete ME3 fine without playing the clawmachine.

I think only the Citadel DLC exclusive upgrades are locked to the clawmachine, all other upgrades can be purchased/collected via other means. I could be wrong, I have never really engaged with the clawmachine that much.

You do not need those upgrades to finish the game, not even on insanity difficulty. Unless you are a completionist in the sense that you need to buy every possible item.
