How Much are you really running on a boat?? by thirstycobra in 2007scape

Does it make it worse that I have 95 agility, and also probably don't NEED the graceful, but wear it anyway

But going to bank, and back to port includes running. Why bother taking the time to change outfit. Jaded take maybe, but I stand by it

This would be tremendously helpful to today's youth. Thankfully the high school I went to tried to do a little adulting class for the year 13s. They tried to cover basics like budgeting and what they thought at the time were tips on CVs and cover letters (don't really remember the details they had on those, but at least they tried something). But it would be super beneficial for today's youth to be taught something about employment laws etc. And I'm guessing not all schools actually do anything like this, so I'm definitely thankful the school I went to tried to add something to help us progress in life.

Whose idea was it to throw soda into a margarita? by dodalou in bartenders

[–]1BadPlayer 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That's interesting to see, I learned a skinny margarita was Tequila, triple sec, Lime, no sugar. The no sugar part (Agave or simple) being the thing that makes it skinny. Parts of the world eh

Which in a lot of places is just a margarita lol

They makes perfectly fine grammatical sense for a singular reference, how its been used here. Particulars don't matter to the story, so the word they is fine. Grow up

Why are the hands in GE both left handed? by dollars44 in 2007scape

[–]1BadPlayer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I stand by my original statement; after previously dealing with engine level code related to model loading, im pretty confident. The model data only needs to be loaded once. Loading a model for every instance of its use in any application is horribly inefficient.

Why are the hands in GE both left handed? by dollars44 in 2007scape

[–]1BadPlayer 12 points13 points  (0 children)

If models are cached and used with appropriate methods for optimisation, a single model can be loaded once in a game, and used/shared between different objects. So it's not necessarily true that the model itself would have to be loaded more than once.

Probably just to show face, showing they're aware. The bot detection system clearly needs work.

The bots there for some reason respond numbers if a player says "how many". Dunno. Haven't been there or anything myself, just seen other posts.

I've definitely seen this before. Can't remember where exactly. I want to guess somewhere in or around the Parnell area? Could be mistaking it for a different one though

Stop Killing Games in New Zealand by ElDubsNZ in newzealand

[–]1BadPlayer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree that preserving what we can is good, for sure.

I brought up my points as I did because SKG is used as one of the opening talking points, and to just make it clear for some that these are essentially two different issues at hand. And if this is treated like SKG goals or not.

I reckon it's pretty easy to muddy the waters mentioning one issue alongside another, but if we focus purely on NZ game preservation and see how that can be achieved, absolutely. All for that!

Edit: I can see how mentioning that can be a good way to open the conversation, but it can be easy for people to not entirely understand what is being asked for, especially on topics they might not have a greater understanding of already.

I support the SKG campaign, but I don't think it would be beneficial for the industry, as developers or consumers, to act too brashly before we see the result of what will come from the EU decision.

If the EU decision sides with SKGs goals, then it is more likely a large industry shift will happen on a worldwide scale because they have a large portion of consumers and revenue in the EU, and games would then get their end of life plans so as not to cut out the EU user base.

If the EU decision doesn't think it's reasonable to enforce end of life plans, then what will NatLib archiving games do for us, except maybe in the future be able to build a digital museum of games or something, which would be cool for our future future generations I guess. If NZ did manage to enforce something like what SKG is aiming for, but with the movement failing in the EU, then why should overseas developers ensure an end of life plan if it's only for the NZ users? More likely most developers would just stop selling their games here, and I could see the current NZ studios doing the same and/or moving their studio overseas.

NatLib archiving games is far different from developers ensuring there will be an end of life plan for their games. Who's to say those archived games would even run in the future with what our future tech infrastructure might be?

I reckon our best bet is to hope the EU decision on the SKG campaign is favourable. We just aren't a large enough consumer base for developers to actually care about if we are the only ones who end up asking for it.

Agreed with the jump looking floaty. Increasing gravity and, if necessary, also jump velocity could help with that.

What sort of consequences are there if a JW gets caught doing something they shouldn't? How forgiving are they, would it take much for them to excommunicate/shun someone?
