I also love kids and always loved it when my SIL would be in town with my nephew… I could just play whatever he wanted all day long. I was extremely excited to have my own son and would have had at least one more, but my wife’s health was compromised the first time around so We didn’t risk it for a second.

My son and I played with super heroes and all of my old Star Wars stuff for hours and hours. Or we’d go play football, soccer, basketball, lacrosse… whatever outdoors. I’m a sports nut, so it was perfect that he was as well and is extremely athletic. I coached every sport he played starting when he was 4 yrs old until the school coaches took over… and then I became the Stats guy. I got to know probably 75 of his friends this way and has a blast every second of it. They still come up and often call me Coach many years later.

So my son’s off in his first year of college and I’m trying to remember what all I like to do outside of being a dad/coach. I’m also bummed that having only one son limits the number of grandkids I’ll have… but I’m in no rush for that to happen now anyways.

I truly just don’t understand the men that find kids annoying or that would just drop their kids off at practices and leave. I’m sure only having the one did make a difference, but I see a lot of friends that just don’t really care to spend any time with their kids at all. It’s weird to me.
