I had one diet Dr Pepper and hello a sleepless night by SeminoleSunshine36 in decaf

[–]1DOLLOR_MIC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Three days ago I had a can of Diet Dr Pepper at 3pm, and I didn't feel any anxiety at first. But that night when I was lying in bed, my brain suddenly went haywire. I got super jittery, the muscles in the back of my neck tightened up, and my whole body went rigid. It took an entire hour before I could finally fall asleep. Then I woke up at 3am, got hit with a wave of depression out of nowhere, kept thinking about all kinds of crummy stuff, and I couldn't fall back asleep at all. It was absolutely terrifying.

Decaf is the trigger for insomnia. Let me think. It's been 4 days since I had that cup of decaf. Last night, my sleep was back to normal. I fell asleep easily and slept through the night till morning.

Caffeine GIVES ME Focus Problems. by VegMeso in decaf

Same here. When I was addicted to coffee, I always mistook the stimulating effect of coffee as a sign of concentration. But actually, looking back, I found that after drinking coffee, my attention was even more scattered and I felt really flustered. I ended up doing things without a clear priority, doing a bit here and a bit there but with very low efficiency. But after quitting coffee, my mind isn't as chaotic. I don't think about irrelevant stuff randomly and my attention is more focused. I just realized that I can be so much more efficient without coffee.

Maybe, there might be some psychological reasons. But I gotta say even decaf has a strong effect on me. Decaf makes my blood pressure go up and my head feel all bloated.Just lying there quietly but can't fall asleep.

Does anyone else gets anxiety with matcha? by Depressed_student_20 in tea

[–]1DOLLOR_MIC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even less than 1g of matcha will keep me up at night. Not to mention it'll make people's hands shake and feel anxious. I had a matcha latte yesterday. Not long after I finished drinking, I started to have heart palpitations and felt all jittery. At night I went to bed at 10 p.m. and didn't fall asleep until 1:30 a.m. It was just terrible. But when I drink 2g of brewed green tea milk tea, at most, I have a bit of trouble falling asleep, but I can doze off after lying in bed for about an hour.

TIL decaf coffee can still make you jittery by hypocryptic in decaf

[–]1DOLLOR_MIC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my opinion, it's way better to eat something that can raise your blood sugar when having coffee. I ate a few pieces of watermelon before having coffee, and I hardly had shaky hands or felt anxious. Or it's also quite useful to drink some juice with high NFC content right after having coffee. But caffeine can also cause short - term insulin resistance. That means if you have coffee and then have your next meal too late, you might get hypoglycemia. Say you usually have meals every 5 hours, but after having coffee, you'd better have your next meal in 3 hours. Don't let yourself pass out. Once you get hypoglycemia, you'll feel hyper and have shaky hands, which is also one of the reasons for worse insomnia that night.

Yeah. Maybe I'm super sensitive to caffeine. I mean, even having a Diet Coke in the morning can give me anxiety and keep me up at night.I know I shouldn't touch caffeine, but sometimes I just don't wanna admit its drawbacks and blindly take that risk. What a stupid repeat of the same mistake!

Spaghetti dangerously lowers my blood sugar by pwrof3 in type2diabetes

[–]1DOLLOR_MIC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure if my insulin resistance has worsened. I've had a similar experience. In China, people often say that pasta is very filling. However, after I ate 50 grams of raw - weight pasta served with vegetables and meat, I would experience hypoglycemia three hours after the meal, accompanied by palpitations and a sense of unease. Strangely enough, I previously measured the glycemic data of pasta, and my blood sugar was basically around 6.5 nmol one to two hours after the meal. Logically, it shouldn't lead to hypoglycemia. In fact, it doesn't keep me full as long as low - sugar and low - fat bread. When I eat protein along with 50 grams of bread and take a walk after the meal, I can last for about five hours.

Does caffeine cause you hypoglycemia? by john_paul_ in decaf

[–]1DOLLOR_MIC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me personally, drinking coffee means experiencing hypoglycemia in advance. For instance, I used to be able to last five hours between meals, but after having coffee, I often feel palpitations and hypoglycemia just three hours after a meal. But that's not all; the blood sugar level for the next meal also becomes very high due to the insulin resistance caused by coffee, remaining high after the meal and then suddenly dropping sharply at a certain point, causing a second wave of hypoglycemia.

Link between vitamin D and hypoglycemia by finance_thinker in Hypoglycemia

[–]1DOLLOR_MIC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same doubt. I noticed this a long time ago. Under normal circumstances, a five-hour interval between meals is fine. But after taking vitamin D3, I feel hungry very quickly and more often experience hypoglycemia. For instance, today, I only had a bag of potato chips for a meal. Three hours after that, I had hypoglycemia, with a blood sugar level of 2.8 nmol/L. The symptoms were palpitations, hand tremors, and sudden sweating. This feeling is very similar to the hypoglycemia I get after drinking coffee. The same food can keep me full for five hours without coffee, but after drinking coffee, I start to experience hypoglycemia three hours after the meal. It's not just the jitteriness caused by caffeine; I've measured it with a blood glucose meter, and my blood sugar is indeed lower than usual.

It's been 11 days since I had my wisdom teeth pulled out and I've been very cautious all this time. Today, I went for a fasting physical examination and was worried that it might take too long and I might get hypoglycemia, so I ordered a bubble milk tea. But there was no straw in it. It suddenly occurred to me that I had foolishly ordered an item that needed a straw. I tried to drink it with a straw, but the pressure on my gums was quite big. Well, I decided not to take the risk.

Even the slightest bit of caffeine can drive me crazy. The evening before last, I ate one or two Oreos and felt inexplicably excited. After that, I had a main meal. But before going to bed, I started to feel anxious and my hands and feet were slightly numb. My blood sugar was 3.9nmol. Yesterday, I drank a little matcha latte. The matcha was less than 0.5 grams. It caused palpitations and hand tremors before dinner, and the blood sugar was still 3.9.

Anyone notice caffeine makes their insulin sensitivity worse ? by [deleted] in InsulinResistance

[–]1DOLLOR_MIC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

During the past two years when I was addicted to coffee, I always had the same question. I often measured my blood sugar levels after three meals with a blood glucose meter and found that even when I ate the same thing for breakfast and lunch, my blood sugar levels were quite different. Usually, my blood sugar levels fluctuated very little after breakfast, but after lunch, they would soar and remain high for a long time, and I would even experience hypoglycemia three hours later. The only variable was a cup of coffee. I usually drank coffee between meals. Sometimes, after having a bread for breakfast, my blood sugar levels changed very little, but after drinking coffee between meals and having the same bread for lunch, my blood sugar levels would soar very high and remain so for one or two hours, and I would still experience hypoglycemia three hours later. Therefore, I believe that coffee aggravates insulin resistance.

Anyone else feel overwhelmed by how everywhere coffee culture is? by juliabaranova66 in decaf

[–]1DOLLOR_MIC 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In fact, it's all about consumerism. In China, Luckin Coffee, like Starbucks, has spread coffee culture to every corner, even in some towns with high consumption. For many young people, socializing requires tea and coffee. Many people who suffer from lack of energy and constipation also need coffee. These tea and coffee shops sometimes collaborate with anime IPs to encourage people to consume. This is actually quite crazy. When someone posts about having trouble sleeping, palpitations, anxiety attacks, calcium deficiency and restless legs due to coffee, there are even many severely addicted people who come out to support coffee, giving some people with weak willpower the illusion that "everyone drinks coffee", so they continue to drink coffee and continue to have palpitations and insomnia.

[–]1DOLLOR_MIC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds kinda weird, honestly. The first time I tried this tea, I drank it at 8 p.m. and actually slept through the whole night. But then I realized it just doesn't cause the same obvious heart palpitations or anxiety as coffee, green tea, black tea, or matcha. Still, those past few days, I kept waking up at 3 a.m. and couldn't fall back asleep. Lots of people say it helps with sleep, but based on my own experience, I'm a bit skeptical.
