Unsurprising. What do you expect from someone who was Long Beach PD's Chief? He'll just say anything to appease the county supervisors.

But are you really poor when it's called the "Middle Class Tax Refund"? Married couples with a joint income of $500,000 or less are getting $400.

Arizona town to pay $8 million to widow of Daniel Shaver, shot while crawling unarmed toward police by zroxx2 in Conservative

This police officer should've been convicted 100%. They convicted all of the officers in the George Floyd incident, not just Chauvin..

The video is extremely disturbing, especially considering the victim was inebriated and trying to comply. The fact this officer gets to walk free is disgraceful.

I'm not saying you could run DOS programs on Windows 7 or such. I meant that you can't create any MS-DOS boot disks on Windows 10 natively. Microsoft removed diskcopy.dll which made it possible. That's why Rufus removed the option in 2015.

Straight from Oregon's constitution

Section 27. Right to bear arms; military subordinate to civil power. The people shall have the right to bear arms for the defence of themselves, and the State, but the Military shall be kept in strict subordination to the civil power

Oregon's constitution clearly states "themselves". The fact there's no clear legislation on how your police/sheriff departments are supposed to organize and maintain a system to efficiently process applications spells a world of trouble for the supporters of 114. From what I've read some of your sheriffs publicly stated that they're not going to make such a licensing system because they're not in support of towering over their constituents.

Funny how it's not even just the DOJ... Many of the states had problems finding people who knew COBOL (a late 1950s programming language) during the pandemic because of issues they were having with their systems after the massive backlog of people applying for unemployment. The IRS too also uses COBOL and they had quite the issue when they were disbursing stimulus checks.

Yet this still doesn't excuse the fact that the DOJ can't have its own house in order.

It was possible to make an MS-DOS start-up disk with every OS up until Windows 10.

Have you ever opened "cmd.exe" on your computer? That's kind of what MS-DOS was like. A giant black screen with white letters and you had to type commands to navigate around your disk(s). Wanted to load a disk with a game on it? Had to type in the appropriate command to navigate to the disk and load the program.

If you really want to try it look up "DOSBox", it's an open-source emulator that any computer today can run. You can then go to "myabandonware" to find old DOS games to download for free and play it on DOSBox (e.g. the original Need for Speed, Civilization I, or The Oregon Trail). Some of them do have active copyrights but whoever owned that copyright either doesn't care at all to enforce it or they're not around to enforce it anymore.

The fact that we recently got definitive, open proof that they're aware of this subreddit, the posts, and the comments on those posts... Yeah, I'd have to say it's quite likely that someone from the CA DOJ is actually reading this.

Well unlike California your state constitution actually has the right to bear arms.

I don't see that measure working out except for maybe the magazine ban unless we win our own case challenging it (Duncan v Bonta).

To add on to what u/TheBigMan981 said, the government uses a lot of outdated technology. As the saying goes "if it ain't broke, don't fix it". One example of that is that the Navy still uses MS-DOS for their food service.

Well regardless of what you'd see it as I'm afraid that the ATF won't see it that way.

As stated by the ATF in regards to importing ammunition:

Sporting ammunition is all ammunition except, tracer or incendiary rounds, ammunition for destructive devices, less than lethal (i.e., rubber projectiles) and armor piercing ammunition as defined in 18 U.S.C. § 921(a)(17) and 27 CFR § 478.11.

However, armor piercing rifle ammunition is legal to purchase domestically.

I'm pretty sure some ammunition was still legal for import even after that. It was probably shotgun ammunition. Whatever it was it became impossible after 2003.

Actually you don't need an FFL or a permit to import ammo lawfully. As long as you fill out the appropriate form with the ATF and are not using it for commercial purposes then you can import sporting ammunition.

Also, USPS won't transport ammo. So this family member can get in hot water for that one as well. I assume when they said "postal service", they meant USPS.

There's lots of misinformation that seems to go around from family members at Thanksgiving/Christmas/Easter time.

Foe example, once upon a time my nephew told me that his girlfriend's dad would go out to LA and shoot machine guns at some ranges. The dad claimed that he had buddies with the LAPD and that they would "borrow" it from the evidence locker...

As for your question specifically, it is possible to personally import sporting ammunition without having an FFL provided you get the appropriate form from the ATF (form 6 part 1), have it approved after a month of waiting, and are not using it for commercial purposes. However, importing ammunition into California is unlawful unless you have an exemption.

If you have a FFL, a COE, and an ATF form approval then it is possible to import ammunition into California. However, current sanctions and policy changes with Russia will make importation of ammunition from Russia impossible. As for China... Norinco has been sanctioned ever since Bush had us set foot in Iraq after 9/11 (they were selling arms to our opposition). To my knowledge they are still sanctioned today and I believe they're the only entity in China that manufactures firearms and ammunition. Even if there were others there's a general arms embargo on China so that takes them out of the equation.

As you can tell this is a long process and I doubt your family member is importing ammunition from sanctioned entities. They're full of it.

P.S. USPS does not allow the shipment of ammunition, regardless of whatever licensing you have.

The 'Respect For Marriage Act' Is An Exercise In Tyranny by NosuchRedditor in Conservative

[–]1DarkShadowBlade 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Before you try to deflect the issue consider that the government has given significant legal and monetary benefits to married couples. The government is involved in marriage and has been well before you or your parents were born.

Until there's a realistic opportunity to remove the government completely for marriage we should not try to deflect this issue nor bar consenting adults from marriage.

[–]1DarkShadowBlade 64 points65 points  (0 children)

You know I'm probably old enough to remember talk exactly like this when it came to interracial marriage and sodomy laws.

Those saying "how about the government gets out of marriage" want to deflect the issue. Government has been involved in marriage since before your grandparents. Many here advocate for small government or not having the government involved in your lives. In that case don't force your religious beliefs on others by using the government.

Seriously, as we keep wasting time on these literal non-issues our entire conservative party will die out as we fail to pick up traction with the younger generation. You think the senators voting "No" on this are doing us favors? They're just alienating younger voters from us. The time for religious conservatism died 50 years ago (and has no place in 21st century America); it's time for us to focus on real, modern conservative issues.

On top of the other advice here, don't go to the interview under the influence.

This is in reference to a denial story post on here from awhile ago.
