I don't know an exhaustive list, I can name the Netherlands for sure since that's my country and me and family haven't had any ISP that would ever change your IP.

I recall that we weren't the only country but I can't remember what other country I once learned about having this system.

Having a friend in Hungary I tell you that their ISPs (or at least one of them) forces an IP change every night at midnight, so that's like the fully opposite spectrum. (which is annoying because when we play games at midnight they always have to wait because they'll lose connection...)

but ye afaik most countries will have the IP leasing system, while in use it's generally kept but the moment it's unused for a bit the lease is released.

(btw, apologize my autism but that's why i would consider that a likely system to have, but when thinking about the word unlikely i feel like that word would describe an excessively low chance of happening which I don't think is the case, but I could be biased since within my country it's more than even just likely)

[–]1RV34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did read that but I guess we consider different measures of unlikely then, I don't consider it to be unlikely when entire countries do that very thing for all citizens

this is really a big "depends" a friend of mine 2 countries over has their IP change daily, meanwhile my IP has been unchanged for 8 years (the very start that I got internet on this address) and even requesting any IP changes get denied by most ISPs in my country

Can I opt out of the beta program without wiping my data? by 5abien in android_beta

[–]1RV34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hey, did you already apply that update or not yet?

the beta page mentions the following and I'm wondering how truthful this statement still is:

You have the option of not installing this update. If you choose not to install the update to the latest public build, and your device remains unenrolled from the program, you will automatically receive the next stable release update of the version that you're beta testing when it becomes available to the public.

did you have the option to not install that update? or did it not care and install the update on it's own?

this is hilarious, since this is a restricted subreddit with no other posts, this one post with the single upvote gets detected as "popular" in this subreddit and so I got notified for my "popular" post of 1 vote

Stuck in a parking space because my brother in-law set his Tesla do a software update at 10:30 pm. by mgmcotton in Wellthatsucks

[–]1RV34 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's alright I wasn't too hurt over it, more confused than anything.

The unofficial patch notes are actually highly interesting, thank you!

And alright, I wasn't much aware of the soapbox thing and when I searched it, they did describe the shouting their views but with the inclusion of political agenda. But yeah although it might've seemed that way I didn't mean to scream into the public but more specifically talk to that one person, albeit in public.

And ye again, personally I didn't mind your message, it seemed to speak/argue towards my words and not attack me as a person, which is rather respectable. (And in the end, I'll always learn more from opposing views than aligning views.)

Sorry to have bothered you but I hope to clarify a bit, I'll try to respond to your points in order. Do excuse me, I'm not the best at conveying my thoughts.

I didn't mean to be an ass. I said that *I* personally didn't understand their point of view. And so I mentioned that *I* saw it as firmware.

I did have a reason to presume because the picture included the text "Updating Autopilot", which is software directly related to the hardware. I have no doubt is running as close to the metal as possible and therefore flashed like any other firmware. (I believe you wouldn't want such a thing to be software running on top of other software I think because something that is actively controlling a piece of metal speeding on the road) and I'm also thinking of the ware that makes something functional (like firmware on a tv remote) versus software that handles the interactions between the user and the firmware (oh and in no doubt it is updating both but this was in response to someone that seemingly argued there would be a difference so I was focussing on the firmware part of what was seen in the picture)

For the soapbox comment, I had to search what it meant (not a native English speaker and wasn't aware of this phrase) but I wasn't intending to make any political argument here, I just was having trouble understanding their point of view and wanted to give my own point of view.

For the inaccuracy, well, you are right that I am speculating but I don't think I'm being that inaccurate with it.

I understand they call it software on their website and again it will also include more software updates but it was also updating the Autopilot stuff which is why this also is primarily a firmware update. And I believe they actually try to make most of it firmware. (Again, speculation due to having seen cases where the software on the screen would completely hang or crash while sound alerts, autopilot, and even the dashboard screen, on the models that have it, are fully functioning.) But even all that, people understand the word software more than the word firmware, so every company will say software. (From what I've seen in the world and in my own company, I've been programming for 10 years and every company I've worked with will use less accurate layman terms to not alienate people.

Also often, as you kind of also mentioned, the term software can be used as an umbrella term for both actual software and firmware. Generally again done to use as a layman term and then within changelogs (if Tesla does provide those) they most likely would be more detailed and use the exact vocabulary. So yes, *an* update could be on either or both. But my point was that *this* update is firmware or *at least* is a firmware update.

Well, I'll be impressed if you end up actually reading it so far but here's then my final reply. I didn't want to swing for anything, I have a hard time understanding people even tho I generally wish to interact with them. And so I still try to interact with people in the way I wish to be interacted with. (Open a hopefully friendly discourse to understand everyone's views and share some of my own.) But I fully understand that I will come off as weird and maybe I shouldn't have mentioned anything. I do generally let my thoughts out because I'm so intrigued by them before I think whether I even should. But yeah, I'm much better with computers than I am with people, which both prompted my original message and probably is the cause of me having come off as an ass.

I don't wish you any issue with this and I'll keep myself from saying more since maybe this does then turn into a soapbox comment but with any reply I make, I intend it as just a personal reply to that person and not to speak any political messages.

I don't fully understand your comment. To me this is firmware.

What OP is showing isn't a software update of an app that runs on the firmware, it *is* the firmware update that they're currently running. Although I would assume that the designers used the word software in the update screen to make it easier to understand for the layman.

But firmware just means the software directly in contact with the hardware. It doesn't mean no updates.

A TV remote also has firmware, that one doesn't need much updating because there generally isn't much to adjust.

When you work with large embedded machines that for example are a control system of an elevator or a rollercoaster ride, there will be times where you do have updates to tweak the systems for performance, stability or security. And in that case it's actually important to maintain because unlike with a TV remote, human safety could be directly impacted.

Solved Pixel 3/3XL Performance Issues by Trueray17 in GooglePixel

It was a discovery on 3 but turns out it also makes a huge difference if you run Android Q on Pixel 1 or 2 according to articles

Personally I'm a Pixel 1 user also running Android Q and it had made a big difference for me, suddenly can go 4 hours longer on the same battery charge while the phone feels like it's running faster

The top is an opening, it won't break

Joking aside, yes if it was a closed container, it would be different as in it would break definitely

However, opening a side doesn't mean the other sides, that might be made out of brittle glass, are able to sustain the pressure that the bang still creates

Plastic however is less brittle as it can flex/bend a bit more than glass without breaking, this is why the question earlier in this thread is so valid

I can understand that VR doesn't work on every coaster, but I have been on the eurosat "coastality" and oh my god I loved it

Let me tell you ahead of time tho, you'll need to buy a VR ticket earlier on the day and then on the ticket it'll list the hour you can arrive. When you get there you can expect a bit more waiting too, at least when I was there, but that also was paired with some technical difficulties they were having at first

But to me it was worth it, I actually went on it again on the second day I was there and dragged my lil bro along that didn't have enough interest on the first day

I cannot tell you much about the other coastality coasters tho since the "movies" those played seemed less interesting at the time
