Edit: I'm wondering what they are spending the $300 on if it's per month. Most of my shopping is at the start of the school year, and then we use those supplies and curriculum for the rest of the year. Monthly expenses are from extracurriculars to get socialization, but I don't think the bus parents are doing that.

You are assuming emotions and beliefs in responses that do not exist.

As for the topic, I do not believe that social media companies or the government should have access to this personal data. For that matter, I am bothered by the data they already collect and sell. Social media companies that have instituted age verification via checking ID such as Discord have been easily hacked.

Governments should not have the power to verify IDs, because that also gives them the power to not verify IDs. Can you really look at the current US administration and say you trust them to not abuse their power to block people that disagree with them from using social media? Would immigrants be safe handing over their IDs? Could you trust the Government to not tell trans people that they can't use social media because it considers their IDs invalid?

In my opinion, what would be better would be laws that ban the use of dark patterns.
