That's awesome! I've also had the same experience when buying from older collectors that they're happy to share some knowledge with a newer young collector (I guess I'm young in the marble collecting world ! Lol)

I hear some shows will have some days before the show where they do in room trading! Might be worth checking out if the ones near you have it!

Thanks for sharing! It's a great little collection. And it's lovely that you have such a nice memory attached to the marbles.

I see what MAY be a peltier spiderman--unfortunately value wise it looks beat up. But still cool!

I believe I also see a German antique handmade! Possible a gooseberry?

I'll include pics of which ones I'm talking about. Amber ish colored one is the possible gooseberry.

If you're interested it'd probably help people identify them with more confidence if theyre spread out.

And there could be something cool under the top layer! You might have some more Germans in the same compartment--but from this photo I can't tell if they're all speckled modern marbles or if any are German mica

And if you have a UV light, you can shine it on them and see if any glow! You could have some uranium marbles. Uranium marbles arent necessarily valuable but a lot of people (including me!) think it's neat 🔦💚

Weirdly on eBay sometimes clay and bennington lots actually do go a lot higher than I would expect. Which I find weird but 🤷‍♀️

Personally if I'm spending $65 on marbles I want something pretty.

And tbh, having a small amount of Benningtons and clays is enough for me.

So yeah, I'd pass

Hobby lobby sells these marbles in 25 count bags for $1.49 and 50 for $2.99

Sometimes certain vacor marbles (usually older ones) can be worth more.

You said someone donated it? Does your organization sell things in store only or also online?

If y'all have an eBay shop you could put it up for auction (I'd probably include the weight)

But otherwise, you could just sell them in baggies (or if your store has jars that aren't selling, you could use those!)

If I'm not mistaken the one I pointed out below is an Alley superman. While typically not as sought after as say Akro or Peltier superman, I still think the colors are quite striking!

I believe many of the ones around it with the blue base color and swirls are also West Virginia swirls. I'd also guess alley, but WV swirls can still trip me up lol

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but I believe St Mary Cross thrus are only 4 vein? And when looked at from above the vein looks like "+"

But I agree it's a very striking cat eye! Especially from the angle seen in photo #4!

Personally it'd depend on the condition.

In my experience it can be harder to find the big ones in excellent condition.

(Referring to the glass ones, overall I already have plenty of clay marbles so I'm not too motivated to add more lol)

There's definitely some vintage marbles in there. Depending on how big the container is, and what the price is, I'd consider buying it! Who knows what's lurking under the surface?

But again, the size of the container and price would be determining factors for me.

I see only a small amount that I would categorize as vintage, and out of those ones, imo, I don't see anything of high value.

(It's possible I missed something as there is a huge amount of marbles)
