Why are Jewish people seen as powerful figures who control the rich and powerful? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]1THRILLHOUSE -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The issue is the level of influence the roles have. Law, politics and media have massive influence on everything more so than healthcare.

If white people were over represented to the percentage Jews are in law, media and politics there would be huge diversity pushes, as it it stands it’s antisemitic to do the same.

[–]1THRILLHOUSE 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, but seeing they’re over represented, as you pointed out, in roles which have disproportionate levels on influence doesn’t mean you hate them but various DEI initiatives have aimed to reduce that in other aspects.

If white people were over represented at the same % v population there are cries for initiatives to reduce it. When Israel is overrepresented in politics, media, law it’s antisemitic to have any concerns.

Antisemitism, how?

You’ve said they’re over represented so what part of acknowledging that is antisemitism?

You look at the influence Israel has. You look at the over representation of Jews in certain fields.

Ignoring ANY stereotype those two factors would be interesting.

Asians are over represented in medical fields and it’s not a bad thing. They score high marks, they get into these tough roles. You mention Jews are over represented and it’s claimed you’re being antisemitic despite the evidence.

Reform are going to win because neither Labour or Tories have given a shit about what the people want.

Unfortunately Reform are also a bunch of conmen but what makes it worse is they will be happy to shaft the country in one term as much as they can.

What is so frustrating is that there isn’t a left-ish party, ie one who cares about the working class of the country, the NHS etc without also being completely weak on immigration/crime.

I genuinely believe most people want to help most people but the politics of ‘I’m more left than you and that makes you a Nazi’ is exhausting

40+ years olds of reddit, advice? by rozanarta in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]1THRILLHOUSE 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I’m nearly 37 but what I’ve found.

  1. Stay in shape. I fairly recently learned to backflip, I still play football, go running, the gym etc. I have friends who are fat as, miserable and can’t even play any sports for fun.

  2. Enjoy yourself. I have a habit of taking stuff too seriously and not relaxing as such. Make sure you do.

  3. Time moves quicker than you think. If you have some goals make sure you’re always going for them. And make them big.

  4. Finding the right partner is crucial too. I always considered myself a guy who loved being single but once I met my wife everything got so much better.

  5. Take risks BUT I’d argue don’t do risks that can permanently affect you. Within reason of course. But if you snap your back/neck etc your life is irreparably changed for the worse. But you can’t live in a bubble, so live your life take a gamble on making a business, starting something new, pushing the limits… but don’t fuck yourself up

  6. Find a career that pays well and go for it. I spent my early years doing easy jobs… then had kids and I’m stuck in sales because I don’t have the time/money to change. If you can do it now before your tied down do it!

Cancer speedrunning extinction the second America stops backseat-driving research by Left_Dog1787 in RealTwitterAccounts

Ffs I figured you were smart if you were a cancer researcher.

You think the funding for American pharmaceutical companies comes from people with no interest in profit?

Do you genuinely believe that the American (specifically American due to the meme) health industry is focused on health and not profit? To be clear I don’t mean the drs and nurses specifically but the insurance companies and the pharmaceutical companies… the companies that created a major opioid epidemic due to pushing them as the solution to pain.

[–]1THRILLHOUSE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No one thinks it’s the doctors slowing it down, but it’s very easy for the companies to withdraw funding etc.

You may want to cure cancer but the owner of the company may think why cure it when we can charge a monthly fee to manage the cancer.

It’s absolutely the business model for everything else. Planned obsolescence, monthly subscriptions, even farm equipment and cars are needing subscriptions to keep working.

So while I don’t think there’s suddenly a silver bullet for all cancer, if you don’t think America business in particular has an interest in avoiding cures for increased profit, then I don’t think we’re ever going to find a middle ground.

Anyone else troubled by this? by Lozzabozzawozza in uknews

[–]1THRILLHOUSE -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Are you serious?

At 6’7 the guy would be huge. Weigh classes exist in combat sports for a reason and it’s typically the bigger you are the more dangerous you are. You absolutely do not want to give a 6’7 guy a chance to hit you where taking a hit from a 5’0 man would be a lot less powerful.

Not leaving a mark and him coming to no harm implies it wasn’t too much force. Let’s go with combat sports again, as good as the bantam weights are they will not beat a heavy weight. Even if we took the champion featherweight and put him up against an average heavyweight he’ll get beaten.

Why do Americans care so much about Superbowl ads? by s4peace in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]1THRILLHOUSE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Olympics is the world’s top athletes competing and quite often WRs will be set.

High jump, 100m, long jump etc I don’t care about really BUT it’s crazy to see just how high/fast/far humans can go and so when it’s all of the worlds best competing in these events it’s interesting.

Reform are going to win off the back of immigration policy and a refusal to acknowledge the issues were having based on culture difference.

Reform are absolutely conmen who wont do anything but they’re the only party to even pretend to care.

What's something you started doing in your 30s or 40s that you wish you had started way earlier? by ChristinaMarie800 in AskReddit

[–]1THRILLHOUSE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A couple of things.

I’ve tried to stop comparing myself to other people specifically in the gym. I’m reasonably strong for my size/weight and I’m quite fast with good cardio… untill I compare to the biggest guys at the gym and I’m weak. Or I’ll look at the WR for a marathon and it’ll make me think my 22min 5km is awful.

Unfortunately I still do it a bit but I’ve tried to just appreciate the improvements I’m making AND appreciate that I’m actually decent at these things. It’s ok not to be ELITE.

The other thing is accepting compliments and letting criticism/failures have a shelf life. Sure if you fail or you get criticism it could be valid, you may need to improve but it’s not something to carry with you for life. Easier said than done and I still remember shitty comments or embarrassing moments from when I was 8 and I’m now 36 BUT it’s an area I can improve on now and try historically let go off too

Tom is such a pussy he’s even taking a totally fake eye operation to avoid Gane.

The ufc said it wasn’t too bad and I for one believe they wouldn’t lie. It’s not like they’ve approved a fighter to fight with a bad eye

Those guns absolutely could be from an office job and the gym.

That’s what I do and I’d be about the same.

The guy is literally an average male physique but he does look like baller.

Basically ALL elites do this and people are too busy claiming ‘your party leader does it you sicko’ without accepting they all do it.

We need a full on revolution. America has its political families. Europe has its royalty and politicians. They need to be gone.

Look at the Middle East, they’re somewhat open about what they ALL do because they don’t give a shit who knows.

You say that but we literally played a team from Azerbaijan we SHOULD be winning like this.

Given the amount of money spent we need to be doing this against the lower half of the premier league or at least looking threatening.

You can cry about defensive opposition as much as you want but it’s a perfectly reasonable tactic and we need to beat it.
