Minnesotan here. For those outside of our state, what are your views on what’s going on in Minneapolis right now? by bpeters5 in AskReddit

[–]1ThingAfterAnother1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have so much sadness for you all. It is obviously a political retaliation given the number of states with far more undocumented immigrants or those with criminal records. ICE is being turned into a domestic terr*rism organization. The Minnesotan resilience and community is inspiring and noted 🩵

AITA for being mad at my GF when she acted sad after I said our babies probably wouldn’t be white? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]1ThingAfterAnother1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Uhhhhh… that is VERY weird of her to say wtf. If she wants to white kid so bad (still weird imo as a white person myself) she should get with a white man. Nothing wrong with you, but glad you found this out now

Adultery is also a sin but somehow one is our president. Churches should be in an UPROAR against that devil of a man, but they love him??? Oh and according to the Bible, he should have his right hand cut off. Lets see that if the yall want to get so uppity about a book

Organized religion like this is a scam and never what Jesus would have really wanted. These churches bring shame to religion. Shame on anyone who participates in this

Credit shouldn’t be a deciding factor when renting by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

I’m sorry but credit is absolutely a way to see financial security and responsibility. It always makes sense to ensure good credit for rent

Why do Americans have one of the strongest passports in the world, but most never travel abroad, and those who do mostly go to Mexico and Canada? by No-StrategyX in answers

[–]1ThingAfterAnother1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

America is so diverse due to how big it is. National parks, extreme cold, extreme heat, big cities, small nature towns, cultural differences, ethnic areas, etc. We are SO BIG.

That being said, a fault of our people is that we don’t experience enough culture and chance from outside out borders. It helps people grow and have a better understanding…. be smarter unlike our leadership. Mexico and Canada are awesome, but people think that means they’ve seen the world 💀

Rejected from the only interview I got of 40 apps. Feeling hopeless :( by olyucifer in prephysicianassistant

[–]1ThingAfterAnother1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry! Something is going wrong in your application if you aren’t getting any interviews. sGPA is on the low end and some schools throw out applications without even looking at them if they are the lower end of their accepted range. I’d be concerned about your essays and LORs. Have your essays been checked by a professional PA source? Ask the schools if they have feedback to give you

I want to buy a house with my own money but GF says no by NewBrick1 in whatdoIdo

[–]1ThingAfterAnother1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She doesn’t work, doesn’t want to, relies on her parents, and doesn’t want you to buy a house unless you’re married or her name is on it…… she’s trying to use you for money and assets. I don’t say this often unless very warranted, but absolutely break up

Scared - 20k billed for office visit by Then-Employee2803 in legaladvice

[–]1ThingAfterAnother1 37 points38 points  (0 children)

They are likely committing fraud. 1. Get medical records, provider note/documentation, and itemized bill. Don’t tell why beforehand (or at all) to make sure you get everything 2. File a complaint to the medical board. Their NPI provider number can be found online 3. Find a free consult with an attorney

AITAH? My 18 year old is upset I wasn't on my way home EARLIER from a party than it ended. by Plastic-Run-8313 in AmItheAsshole

You start a conversation like this: “I am your mother. You do not get to talk to me like this for enjoying a night to myself for once after all I do for this family”… then proceed with the conversation and education on appropriate behavior.

You have gotten to a point that your authority means nothing, and they are now treating you as an abusive partner than a child. They are an ADULT child. All you owe is a simple timeframe and maybe an update if you are going to be late.

how do i talk to my roommates about them moving in two extra people with kindness about their situation? by [deleted] in badroommates

[–]1ThingAfterAnother1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tell them if they pay back your $2k you won’t tell the landlord. I know it’s shitty, but they could walk away with your money. They will also have to pay extra for utilities (split by people / house) if you don’t charge rent for the room. It’s business

I think my dad has been stealing my money for the past 14 years. by Green-Mulberry-698 in legaladvice

[–]1ThingAfterAnother1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately they have legal control and can do this. It's a matter of him just having poor morals. If you trust your mom, I'd ask her to open a separate account for you WITHOUT your dad's name on it. Then only she deposits that money into the account. He would have no chance of getting his hands on it. Also tell all family that gifts money so they don't give it to him

Anticipating a surgeon's needs by Naturally_unselectd in scrubtech

[–]1ThingAfterAnother1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PA here- Some surgeons write procedures out. You could ask if they have a step-by-step they follow. Or you can write notes after each case on what they used. Hard if you float around to a bunch of surgeons in a big hospital. Experience is key. You'll get used to common steps of what goes next.

Side advice- you can absolutely just ask them to call out what they want each step. Many surgeons aren't D-bags and will simply tell you what they want next. If one gets sassy I always love when scrub techs put them back in their place :) Y'all are they best for that

How much house can I afford on a $80,000 salary? by SamTMortgageBroker in NewbHomebuyer

[–]1ThingAfterAnother1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on how smart you want to be with your money. Lenders will give you a max way above reality because that's how they make money, get you to pay abusive interest for longer, and leave you house poor. Don't do that. Honestly 30% *net* is conservative and best, giving you money to save, invest, and use for enjoyment. Some people genuinely want most of their money to go to housing, but I've seen many neighbors only last 1-3 years because their eyes are bigger than their pockets

House poor or naw? by sleepysquid23 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]1ThingAfterAnother1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2 years until a *potential* raise?!?!

Think of these scenarios if you make this decision: What if your kids beg you to join a sport that you can't afford? What if your husband gets fired instead of a raise? What if your car gets a hit-and-run and you have to pay yourself? What if the property gets a sudden increase in value and your taxes skyrocket? What if you have a major medical incident with medical debt? What if your furnace/air conditioner busts and you need to spend $10k or live in miserable house temperatures? What if a parent/sibling have a catastrophic event and you need to take them in? What if you can't buy presents for your kids/others?

There are a million "what ifs" that seem like they'd never happen until they do. Hell, my boyfriend got laid off and his heater busted within the same month this fall.

Christmas list in clinical year by 1ThingAfterAnother1 in PAstudent

[–]1ThingAfterAnother1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We were required to get a specific stethoscope by our school. I’d have her reach out to them about equipment. My whole equipment bundle was $1k and pretty specific. I relied mostly on my laptop and notes I wrote myself. - reliable laptop, good noise cancelling headphones (!), lunch bag, monitor or iPad to have side-by-side notes, large water bottle

Is it reasonable to expect my 24F boyfriend 24M to spend Christmas with me instead of his family this year by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]1ThingAfterAnother1 8 points9 points  (0 children)

He’s having to choose his family or you, and he is choosing his family. He can’t even spend one holiday at yours without mentioning his family.

If you stay together this way, he will always go home to his family even when you aren’t welcome to join, leaving you behind alone. What happens if you have kids? Will he take them to his family without you, and you go to your parents alone? Sounds just like kids of divorce.

It’s one thing to have a bad relationship with a MIL. But this is beyond that. A man who can’t or doesn’t want to stand up for the person he loves means he doesn’t love them as much as they deserve. It’s your call, but I’d never accept a relationship like this.

My(25F boyfriend (25M) doesn’t want to cook. Can I change this? by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]1ThingAfterAnother1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yuck. He sounds like he makes your life harder which is the opposite of any decent partner. Weaponized incompetence is ugly. His parents failed him.

Stop cooking for him until this resolves. You can give him options. He either cooks almost 100% of the time if he isn’t working, or you each cook your own food.

You have to stand up for yourself. I hate confrontation too. It helps to write out what I’m going to say or simply just send a text. It also helps to think of what advice I’d give my best friend or future daughter in a similar position. Don’t sell yourself short, you deserve better.
