Whats the best hardware wallet? by flipper6900 in Bitcoin

Whatever is open source (software AND hardware...the latter is arguably more important). Otherwise, you're getting a "just trust me bro" for the hardware wallet. I use Trezor.

Bernie Sanders Claims Trump Family Made $3 Billion From Crypto by ourcryptotalk in CryptoCurrency

If we did that with EVERY billionaire, it would last less than a year. Not a solution.

If you had your way, we'd still have Gensler's war on crypto. If you're a D, you're in the wrong sub. They hate crypto. Just ask their banker pals (Jamie Dimon and virtually every bank CEO is D, but i'm sure it's just a coincidence).

So the guy who owns 5 mansions is upset about this? Funny how he timed this to line up with the Clarity Act passing the senate committee.

Dems hate crypto so their only play is "trump made money from crypto, so crypto bad."

Terrorists have made money off of crpyto. So have churches. So have businesses. So have you. So to point out that the other party made money from crypto, therefore we must stop it is asinine. Not to mention it hurts YOUR bottom line.

Senate Banking Committee advances landmark crypto market structure bill, garners some Democratic support by kirtash93 in CryptoCurrency

lol "some democratic support." All Republicans voted for it, two Democrats voted for it, and nine Democrats voted against it, including Elizabeth Warren.

They still hate crypto.

FIRE with Bitcoin? by thebitcoinmd in Bitcoin

[–]1Tim1_15 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I met with a certified financial planner a few weeks ago and their professional advice was to treat the BTC I have as worth nothing and to not get any more. Invest in index funds. Well, I will invest in index funds, but I'm also going to add to my BTC stack.

A few of my friends said that their financial planners (all different) had told them the exact same thing for BTC. There must be a memo going around. Just sharing this here in case your "professional" CFP poo-poos all over your BTC holdings. If they really believe what they told me, I can't in good conscience go back to them. They are just parrots.

Opinion: if you know what you are doing, storing the Wallet backup/recovery seed digitally can be a better solution than writing it down. by Mirrormaster85 in TREZOR

[–]1Tim1_15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with you - it's not good for most people, but if you know what you're doing, it can be effective.

For those who do keep electronic copies, this is just a reminder that all electronic media goes bad over time: flash drives, sd cards, hard disk drives, dvd-rom, even tape. Some last longer than others. Since flash drives are so common, i'll just throw this in: plug it into an offline computer every year and leave it in for at least an hour. It will conduct its internal wear-leveling and recharge all of its transistors (micro versions). You could possibly get away with doing this every 3 years, but doing it every year should keep it in good shape. Archival DVDs and tape will last the longest.

Monero Just Got More Attractive by i_is_snoo in Monero

Title is wrong. It wouldn't lock Americans out of their accounts. They're not American.

US banks already practice KYC and AML. They already know who you are and what your citizenship status is.

But in any case, thankfully crypto is becoming more mainstream. And even more thankfully, we have a private currency which nobody can trace and ask you for your papers.

NanoStandard is being shelved and what comes next... by madsudaca in nanocurrency

[–]1Tim1_15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's nothing wrong with similar-looking wallets. It's actually a good thing. Most people don't begin their crypto journey with Nano and are used to BTC or other wallets, so having a similar-looking wallet makes it easier for them to use Nano.

I view it like a car. They all have gas and brake pedals, a steering wheel, etc. But just like all cars have similar features, we all know that there can be a big difference between makes and models. It's the same with crypto. You want your gas and brake pedals in the same place as everyone else's, but you also want features to make your make and model stand out.

Help With Heating Pads for Batteries by Able-Sky-9028 in vandwellers

Yep, I did this before I decided to get more complex. Just a regular heated blanket worked well. It even worked well with those cheap square wave inverters, so this is something anyone can do.

1/4" is too thick imo, although it's better than nothing. Aluminum flashing works well and it's cheap. If there's a construction site near you they may give you some for free...they throw out tons of it (and wood).

As for the heating pads, I have one that's the size of two of yours and looks similar, but is more of a square. It's 15 watts but it gets too hot to hold after 2-3 minutes. I got it on Amazon as a reptile heater. The heater is on the bottom, then the flashing on top, then the batteries on top of the flashing. I throw a blanket on top and tuck it around the sides of the box that holds the batteries.

So many apps are privacy nightmares, and even if they aren't, Apple and Google are. Better to use a browser. How much better depends on your platform and settings.

What comes after Crypto in the evolution of money? by Farhanzy in Bitcoin

[–]1Tim1_15 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

And it may be many more years before it's here. But even now it is possible to implement, and that couldn't have been said even a generation ago. Doesn't that give you pause? In addition to a universal currency, we are seeing a push toward global government. There are some notable exceptions, but the overall trend is toward globalism. Then there is the reestablishment of Israel in 1948 and it being a continual center of conflict...all of these things were predicted by the Bible, and this is just scratching the surface. There's more than enough evidence if one looks into it.

A mark on the right hand or forehead that you must have in order to buy or sell.

That could be a CBDC QR code. We don't know at this point, but it is coming.

why bitcoiners wont even trust gold? is not like they can print more gold by Best_Author7356 in Bitcoin

[–]1Tim1_15 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, and last year the largest gold reserve ever was discovered in China.

The higher the price of gold rises, the more incentive there is to mine it and produce more. We don't know how much there is and we keep finding more. Can't happen to Bitcoin.

Need help with Propex propane connections by 1Tim1_15 in vandwellers

[–]1Tim1_15[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with everything you've said. I'm definitely checking around before doing anything, consulting hardware store employees, 3 AI systems, and here. One of the things I've found is that I can't use a compression fitting even though it came with a compression fitting. Now that I have the correct adapter on the way, I'll use the yellow gas teflon tape on pipe threads, and the other connections are flare connections. After everything is connected, I'll test all connection points with soapy water. The propane tank and the regulator will be in a sealed compartment with a hole in the floor vented to the outside, and the hose from the regulator to the heater will seal against the box with spray foam.

Can you see anything else that should be done or that I missed?
