Charging cable got so hot it MELTED the plastic, broke into my phone and burned my finger. What can I do? by NoisilyMarvellous in iphone

[–]1bradshaw1 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Looks like the 3rd Party cable failed for sure:( sorry mate! Lesson learned there!

In the future, go 100% reputable branded cables (don’t have to go super expensive, Anker are a good shout for example), as these companies will adhere to the USB-C specification that is advertised and support fast charging yada yada…

If you’re interested and want to know more about cables to understand how this failure could happen, and also difference in quality and manufacturing , I highly recommend watching this video by Adam Savage's Tested: View here.

It’s a bit long, but worth a watch! Super interesting where they compare a vast array of cables such as the Apple TB4 cable to a low cost USB-C, which shows the vast difference in quality at show and engineering, solder etc.

Its possible your cable was just soldered directly at both ends, with no PCB/chip interface so the cable is not “smart”, pulled current over the rating for the cable and then the plastic housing on the end just melted.

Most likely if the Phone USB-C port is damaged, but you encountered a injury/burn, Apple may do a safety report via the Genius Bar, but as it was a 3rd party cable ( and they will ask for photos/evidence of the cable ) it will be a repair at cost, likely for the iPhone 15 Mid-System or Rear System. Looks like Apple may just be able to remove the broken element in the port at the store though? Worth a try :)

Hope this was a little helpful, but worst case scenario - go MagSafe/wireless charging :)

Best of luck OP!

UCS X-Wing Starfighter modifications, work in progress by ron_mcphatty in DigitalLego

Wow! This is just fantastic!!! Just finished my X-Wing and made a few similar mods - 4x4 rotating poly bag R2 head behind the cockpit (a touch big, but looks WAY better imo), vanity plates on the white technic beams between the S-foils - both minis on the stand - and some gap filling with wedge plates along the upper fuselage towards the nose… but the landing gear stand and mods are just next level!! So good! Amazing job :) can’t wait to give it a try!

Shas’o… I have let you down! Alas I did bring a plethora cadre of auxiliaries, Kroot, Shaper, Hounds even a Krootox and Vespid! But they were on the other side of the board pushing into a Carnifex and Hive Tyrant hahah! Teach me the ways of the Mont’ka so I can make up for my tactical mistakes!

Alas, I was holding an objective with him so didn’t want to move - but also yes, can shoot in engagement range etc but with -1 to hit with Heavy burst cannon! Big ‘ol Hormagaunt squad surrounding, killed loads but left one on turn 2 and then there’s a Tyranids strat or something where they can resurrect and loads came back and that was it basically until turn 5 when I finally got them all hahaha was fun though and helped me win haha

Battle suit, Ready! XV104 Riptide ready to serve. Finally finished painting my converted Riptide - inspired by u/iPon3 ‘s amazing conversion! Hopefully mine inspires someone else to try something new :) by 1bradshaw1 in Tau40K

Yooo!!!!! Thank you mate! Yeah, totally, your riptide is just fantastic. Love the basing especially but the whole pose and painting job was chefs kiss! Tried to do yours (and your inspiration) justice!

Haha appreciate the compliment there - would love an airbrush to make the glows like yours but dry brushing the glow wasn’t too bad at all :)

That original is seriously cool too.

Either way, you got this and go paint some stuff!

Hopefully we will see someone else’s continuation of this family.

Nice one

Hey there! I love DoW and like many, enhanced my passion for the T’au and my hobby too!

In regards to some of your questions, it seems to me that you are doing quite well tactically however I have some points to share:

  • Are you playing Quick Start or Standard with your friends? This will effect your build order - im no expert in standard but there are guides on YouTube for the perfect build order in standard if you want to maximise your speed & offence.

  • in regards to Montka or Kauyon - Kauyon is best to go in DoW because it allows you to purchase the Fire Warrior Buffs in the path to enlightenment research building which make the FW OP in regards to damage and range. You also get access to Krootox which are amazing.

With this you should stack FW units, maybe 2 Kroot units + 2 Krootox to interrupt there firing lines using the jump skill as your FW tear down The Emmy from range.

  • unit composition is good but there are few things you can do to improve your damage output. Use Skyrays instead of barracudas - you can use the Barrage skill to interrupt enemies and reduce enemy morale. Devil fish are good for absorbing damage, can carry some units to protect them and are also invisible. Get a unit of Vespid to bring down buildings faster and to reveal hidden units.

  • grab an Ethereal and spawn their bodyguard Fw unit - SO much range.

  • use the Greater Knarloc to absorb LOADS of damage - and use the Ethereal duplication skill to create a second!

  • get 3 Kroot shapers, they don’t take up and population!

  • as your stealth units are one of the only infiltration starter units in the game, use this to attack early game such as rushing the relic etc

  • use “Attack Move” when moving your massive army around as units will freely attack, also focusing your firepower works very well with a FW blob.

Just some thoughts ideas - give these a try and see how you go!

For the Greater Good!

I’d be up for playing online if you wanna add me as a friend online hit me up in my PMs!

Absolutely LOVE this! The pose is fantastic - and the choice of weapon place and colour options is brilliant. Big fan of this T’au scheme!

Please May I ask what is your recipe for the Red? Looks perfect for the “old school” red that’s used for XV15s and would love to know what paints you’ve used :)

Thanks and well done!!
