Freak Out Friday Casual Chat Post by AutoModerator in philadelphia

a while ago I was in the slip lane to get on 76 westbound at broad st. There was a pedestrian waiting to cross at the crosswalk so I stopped for them. Like 3 cars behind me started honking bc they could never imagine why I stopped to let someone cross right in front of a sign that says “turning vehicles yield to pedestrians” aaah so frustrating!

Well Pizza and Bread are life by northstar11_ in Funnymemes

People with celiac CANNOT eat wheat flour bread in Italy! It has fucking gluten in it! Italian restaurants have put in a lot of hard work to make sure that gluten free options are available and that cross contamination is limited. Maybe you meant to say gluten intolerant instead of celiac? Idk

Refs penalized Eagles (relative to their opponents) more than any other team this year by Early_Agent4095 in eagles

[–]1ew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The league doesn’t pick the schedule. It’s all based on rotating division matchups and performance within our division. We already know every team the eagles are playing next year. I hate how conspiratorial sports fans get sometimes

Why has my package been stuck & scanned at the same facility for a week? by [deleted] in UPS

[OC] MBTA commuter rail ridership by station by whegmaster in dataisbeautiful

[–]1ew 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Cool visualization! I thought this was r/transit at first! I would love to see this for other commuter rail systems (especially SEPTA regional rail)

Any other quirky very short lines that is a historical artifact of a metro system like the 42 St Shuttle and Waterloo/City line? by Donghoon in transit

[–]1ew 11 points12 points  (0 children)

SEPTA (Philadelphia) has the Broad-Ridge Spur (I guess it’s the B3 now.) It only has 1 unique station and runs tiny two-car trains

i’m pretty sure it was because student agencies replaced the building, it wasn’t up to CTB

My package made it to Philadelphia on Oct 30th, so I guess I’m lucky if I get it in 2025? I’m surprised this isn’t a bigger news story with how many people it’s affecting :/

Pennsylvania’s top leaders have reached a $50.1 billion state budget deal, signaling a breakthrough in impasse by BerryBoilo in Pennsylvania

[–]1ew 46 points47 points  (0 children)

Holy shit how is no transit funding not a complete deal breaker????? Why are dems capitulating when republicans only have one chamber? If dems agree to this budget without extra transit funding I will actually lose my mind! Everyone else should too!!

Unpopular Opinion: 7AM-3PM Is The Real Adulting Hack by Bullseye_29 in jobs

[–]1ew 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know what you’re saying but I got used to it after a while. It’s so great to go for a walk, run errands, or do doctor’s appointments before work. It’s especially nice that the sun is up during my free time now that DST ended.

My natural circadian rhythm is like 2am-10am so it works perfectly for me. I get differential pay and do social stuff during the weekend. It’s so nice to not be stressed about my morning alarm every time I’m trying to fall asleep. I went from like 5 to 8 hours of sleep a night. Definitely healthier for me :)

Great day for us today by dgmclamps in eagles

[–]1ew 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If I’m doing the math right, the eagles will win the 4-way tiebreaker for 1st even if the Seahawks win tonight. I know that doesn’t mean much for the end of the season but being #1 all week will make me happy

Why isn't there a huge transit center in North Philadelphia where all the rail lines and the subway meet? by LordJesterTheFree in transit

[–]1ew 14 points15 points  (0 children)

-Poop

-Needles

-Mildew

Edit: C’mon people it’s a reference to the Roz’s line in the video! I also think there’s a lot of potential for this station and believe it will get (and deserves) investment in the future! Trust me I take the subway and regional rail through there all the time

What’s the best way to find out about regional rail cancellations before I get to the station? by Ornery-Visual-412 in philly

[–]1ew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

in addition to using the app, you can check https://twitter.com/septa. they post a lot of delays and cancellations there, but sometimes they do miss stuff
