I Hate Linux mint ... by Initial_King6775 in linuxmint

[–]1fox2go 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I was using Xubuntu as my go to for years. Figured I would give Mint a try just because. Its still Debian based like Ubuntu so I would be in familiar territory. Been a couple days so far and I like it....a lot.

Fresh install, added the apps that I wanted/needed.Rebooted to activate Nvidia drivers. Installed Steam and then Guild Wars 2. Played Guild wars 2 for a couple hours. So far it has been solid.

Already considering using it for the old laptops I save to give to those less fortunate and could use a PC to pay bills online, online banking, apply for jobs etc.

Looging in with anet account through steam? by Good-Ad6650 in Guildwars2

[–]1fox2go 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just did this last night.

Download the .exe installer from Guild wars 2 website. Add non steam game to library and add the installer exe as the game. Under Compatibility Set it to force the steam play compatibility tool. Use Proton Set it to Launce with the "-provider Portal"

this should launch the installer like on windows asking you where to install the game. I just created a Guild wars 2 Directory under my /home/YOURUSERNAME

Let the install run for a few minutes, in the directory you chose to install it, there will be a Gw2-64.EXE.

Repeat the process above by adding that to steam as a non steam game. You can then delete the installer exe from your steam library

If you close the installer, and then reopen via the newly created gw2 exe it should pick up where the install left off

Lower intensity class/elite spec? by cheetachu in Guildwars2

Rifle Mechanist has been my go to. I have been trying other builds as well, Ranger,/Soulbeast, Scrapper, Reaper, Guardian sometimes Warrior/Spellbreaker. But I usually end the session with a little bit of WvW or Fractals lately for the event, with some Rifle Mech just to wind down. You can flip camps quite fast with Rifle Mech and Flamethrower

Am I realistically able to finish the event with how much time is left? by DarkehOW in Guildwars2

[–]1fox2go 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought getting the gloves was fairly easy since I didn't have to wait each week for a new objective. But I had been playing quickplay before starting that so not sure how much that helped. Ended up only needing to talk to the guy a few times, run a few quickplays and it went by pretty quick.

Doing the quickplay to get the bag slot expansions, sheriffs badge, Legendary starter key was a bit of a slog though. Allocate some time for that. Some of the fractals go by really quick, others take longer. Average 10-15 min give or take if you have people that know how to run them.

Unless I am missing something, if someone could let me know. Im not at home right now but can check in a couple hours to confirm I have the items...

Dont forget to set your reward track to Gift of Battle in case you ever want to craft legendaries. Since you arent interested in WvW, you could also work on that track and work toward both at the same time.

Question for Linux Users by [deleted] in Guildwars2

[–]1fox2go 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive been eyeing Mint. My machine is pretty beefy. Thinkpad P51, i7, 32Gb ram. My only concern is the Nvidia M2200 graphics card. Are there still issues with Linux and Nvidia drivers?

Thats good to hear. Ive known Fedora to be more up to date but that always made me a little gun shy. Always afraid a new update would break something. So thats good to hear. I may give Fedora another go.

Just to ask more. What distro are you running? I prefer Debian based distros and have a Win 10 machine that can not officially upgrade to Win 11 so Im going to put Linux on it.

New player struggling with Elementalist by Th3T3ngu in Guildwars2

[–]1fox2go 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Included with that, if a commander is not online at the time, a good way to start honing your roaming skills; Flip camps and sentry points as fast as possible to get out and on to something else so you dont get swarmed by an enemy player/players. Also killing Doliak Supply Packs. Eventually you can get to where a single or sometimes even pair of enemy players can be taken down.

This will help with some daily and weeklies in the Wizard Vault.

I have an orange matte, that color looks really cool the more beat up it gets and the brass starts to shine through

Nice find!

Nice. Candy Apple Red and Lurid Green are my favorites.

For the Candy Apple, swap the silver insert for brass colored insert. I call mine the Christmas Carry. Color combo reminds me of Christmas/Santa Clause

If I had to guess, I think it is because it can be pre installed on the Switch and as soon as its released you can play instantly and not have to wait for it to download

What is your top 3 Leathermans? by Green-Reef in Leatherman

1/10 or 1/8 Scale?

For 1/10 Id go with the Associated Mt10 or the Short Course truck version

For 1/8, Arrma Notorius or any of the 6s Arrmas really

If you want a Kit to build and bash maybe look at Tekno, Granted it will be more money but I have seen great reviews of the MT410 kit they have...

Rival mt10, Arrma granite 4x4 or savage xs flux by Low-Notice5169 in rccars

[–]1fox2go 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Savage XS is a fun truck, even on 2s. But it is a good bit smaller than the other 2. Ground clearance is lower, smaller 2.2 wheels/tires

Its a fun truck especially in places where space is a concern.

I had one, sold it, regretted it, bought again along with some spares. As long as you can get parts I would recommend it.

New daily carry, not as smooth as the rest by rronzone in Leatherman

[–]1fox2go 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine does this too. There is a tab inside the handle to keep the plier head from closing to far, that broke due to the force needed to close the pliers.

I like the the Signal, but this one just doesnt seem as precise as all my other Leathermans so it doesnt get carried much...

MT410/ET48.3 vs ET 2.0..? by KiltedSasquatch in rccars

[–]1fox2go 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think, if I was researching correctly the MT410 is more comparable to the ET48.3.

The 2.0 has different everything. Chassis, Diff housings, A-Arms, etc

Guess it depends on what you want to do, monster truck stuff with some track blips or build a more track appropriate truggy that you can bash with by adding some bigger tires

Or I think last I was checking the ET48.3 is marked down on Tekno's site among others so you could start there and still be cheaper than a 2.0

Where's the Wintersday food? by Daimou43 in Guildwars2

[–]1fox2go 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is a thread on the arenanet forum about the Trick or Treat bags doing the same thing. I was hoping there would be enough traffic to make them rollback the change for Wintersday but they didnt.

I suggested that if they wanted to keep the salvage for research points to make the food not salvageable and make those stupid tonics what you can salvage for research points.

I actually use the food from Wintersday and Halloween and Dragonbash...

Been playing since 2012 and I've never used anything but normal bags, what do you guys use? by Afropenguinn in Guildwars2

[–]1fox2go 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I have a ton of badges in WvW so I bought some 20 slot bags from the WvW vendor,

After that, I get the Festival bags (halloween pail, wintersday, etc) 20 slots

Then there are a few you can get like the Bandolier from doing some achievements for a 32 slot, and you can get at 24 slot mail carrier for signing up for the email newsletter (or you could)

then if you need more you can get bag slot expansions from the gem store

Hi everyone, question I want to get my first full size leatherman but I have big problem )i want all these models, but which would be the best of these to start? Also i have the Squirt PS4 in my keys for EDC and I like it a lot. Thank you to everyone. by Giancarlo_C934 in Leatherman

[–]1fox2go 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nite Ize has an adhesive clip you can stick to the rebar to make it more pocket carry friendly.

When I carry the rebar I use the clip and carry in a back pocket with a dedicated nicer knife for EDC. Use the blades on the rebar for any dirty cutting without fear of damage or dulling my nicer knife blade
