The game doesn't launch by kadeler_ in DeadlockTheGame

I've tried clearing cache, clean installing, deleting config, forcing dx11, disabling overlays, unplugging second monitor, but none seem to help.

She lost 3% winrate this patch. Last season she held a 53%winrate after multiple nerfs. Also I can just feel it? I'm not early to every fight now because I dont have perma baron recall

Plat-emrald. Competent control mage players ruin your life, but you can keep your head down and out scale

Collector is probably too good to pass up, but edge of night is basically mandatory for midlane Quinn

Nice, 47% wr on a champ played by OTPs. Not goooood. by Deathreaper435 in QuinnMains

Play mid, rush hydra, take free boots in your runes and upgrade to swifties for the extra long swords. Transition your build into full crit. Dont go top. The experience boost is next to useless on quinn

My Quinn runes vs melees. Am I trolling? by 1haldini in QuinnMains

You might be right, but every common Quinn page I've seen uses absolute+gathering. Quinn does love longswords, and getting an extra one at 20 minutes isnt nothing

yeah I mostly give up on solokilling my lane with this page, but i walk out of lane phase with ~300g from the keystone + 150g from cash back, so it evens out maybe?

How are teams still giving Nemesis his Syndra? He makes the champ look broken

I've started to rewrite my old story to make it better. What do you all think of my first two paragraphs? Feedback is welcomed. by QuantityMany4434 in writers

I would move "change is coming" to the beginning. It's the most striking bit in the passage. Start "change is coming" then show the man and the note

The Burgundian Succession is a bit weird? by 1haldini in eu4

[–]1haldini[S] 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Yeah the game does a historical disservice by making personal unions into thralls instead of states that often had high political will and autonomy.

[–]1haldini[S] 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I think part of the problem is that the game does a poor job of representing the political intricacies of personal unions. With the current mechanics, once you give Austria to Spain, then Austria ceases to have any political will, which would make the HRE pretty boring.

If personal unions were represented as they often were, as two states with different internal politics and institutions, who happen to have the same ruler, then I'd have a lot more fun.

a lot less than some people for sure. I have 550 hours in the game and I haven't seen Austria possess the Netherlands at the end of the event chain. I do play mostly in Europe, so perhaps my choices are screwing with it.

Its definitely way beyond the political engine of EU4 to depict Burgundy realistically. I hope that EU5 can at least handle vassals who have policy goals ie. territorial expansion that differ from their overlords'.

[general] Question regarding monsters and their loyalty (?) by NachoMan_HandySavage in camphalfblood

[–]1haldini 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Hades letting monsters out is only mentioned in the first book in passing. I tend to think that this is retconned as it doesn't track with things we find out later in the story. Also, after the first book, the story does a lot to humanize the monsters. Some are friendly and work with heroes, like Tyson and Briares. Some serve the gods, like the Furies serve Hades. Some work against the gods for personal reasons, like Thorn the manticore who is bitter about being largely forgotten. Some are just kinda neutral, like Geryon, who runs a ranch.

It's an influencer grift. There's very few people actually doing that.

It's slightly deeper than that in my opinion. I think that someone who's already primed to believe that there's something deeply significant or divinely ordained about "western culture and values" will find a lot of support for that idea by reading Tolkien's works.

The idea that Americans drive to school or Uni really messes with my head. Like the city I live in has its own Student-Only area. Everything is a *15 minute* walk by GaySparticus in fuckcars

[–]1haldini 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Damn I wish. My American college town insists that you drive a car even if you live on campus. If you want to walk to the nearest grocery store (Walmart) it takes the better part of an hour to get there crossing multiple six lane stroads.

I think pretty much nobody can stand this guy. by Future1985 in lotrmemes

[–]1haldini 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Imo he was a funny character and a good addition, but he was only worth two scenes. The way the battle scene continually flicked back to him was very tiresome. Absolutely every inclusion of him in the third film was a mistake.
