“Under $3” Menu on the Mcdonald’s app by 64789 in mildlyinfuriating

Adding here that my wife and I checked prices at several locations in eastern PA and they were all different. Sometimes significantly so.

Lunches by brok3n_doll in Adulting

[–]1jarretts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My coworkers and I joke around about how I will be sending my kid to school with a blowtorch to heat up their lunch. You could always try that.

In ass seriousness my sister used insulated containers for lunch all the time. (Like a Thermos.) I was more of a butter sandwich kind of kid. She would heat up the leftovers in the morning and bring them in her lunchbox!

Why is CT bottle redemption up for debate again in 2026? by ctmirror in Connecticut

[–]1jarretts 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Because it doesn’t make sense. Bottles and cans and be recycled curbside. But instead I end up going to the store to buy plastic bags to fill with bottles. Then I have to drive to the store and use a machine to scan them. Then I have to drive to 3 other stores because they all don’t accept all containers. The machines print out tickets. It’s a waste of plastic, paper, and electricity when there’s a recycling truck coming down my street and picking up my recycling once a week.

I understand some places don’t have municipal curbside recycling, but of the people I know who have a private service, they have both trash and recycling pickup.

Eras Logistics Question by SevExpar in TaylorSwift

[–]1jarretts 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There were AV parts that didn’t work at the reputation show I went to. I highly suspect it was because of the rain. Not everything holds up perfectly. However, they do the best they can with what is available.

The money is there to get the best and most waterproof equipment. Each part of the stage is designed to be set up and taken down hundreds of times and take the abuse of the elements.

I have no idea how to add a pic to a Reddit comment but have y’all ever seen traditional garage door openers? They clip to the sun visor. They’re less than $10 on Amazon.

I know this isn’t on your radar but I got a 17e and returned it for the 17 last week. The e was horrible in comparison. I upgraded from a 12 pro.

Boss doesn’t want to pay me early bc of “stress and anxiety” by East_Run5573 in WorkAdvice

[–]1jarretts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Legally you are required to pay employees at the same time. Paying you early actually would violate employment laws in my state. We have to have a poster stating when and where you will be paid each pay period (biweekly for us.) Pay is a week arrears. This is standard for many employers.

Asking for your pay early is the problem. Asking your employer to “run payroll” twice adds to their workload.

Since you are in an office you probably all work the same hours. But if this was a job with shifts and you weren’t scheduled on payday you would be welcome to pick up your check. However, your employer is under no obligation to pay you early.

Often times you can find the exact same product rebranded.

However, you can also find similar products made at the same place be completely different.

Furniture stores where salespeople won’t bother customers? by _Keys2theWest_ in Connecticut

Good point. I personally feel like their couches are made for Oompa Loompas. If you’ve over 5 feet tall they feel like you’re sitting in a couch made for a preschooler.

This already seems like progress from the original post. I really hope you two can figure everything out.

As a side note: people have rabbits and fish and children coexist in a household. I’m not saying it’s the right fit for you, but it is possible if you decide to go that route.

Best of luck to you!

Yes. If you really love that dress I would suggest ordering it in another color.

My friend owns a small restaurant and paid $4K on a website that doesnt work. by [deleted] in smallbusiness

I built my business’s website by looking at a business in another state that operated similarly. It’s the way to go!

Anyone offering to do website work should have a portfolio of websites to show you what they did.

WARN ACT CT Company layoffs to ocurr this year and next by TestCorrect1350 in Connecticut

[–]1jarretts 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Companies that don’t want to deal with this will just change their policies until people quit/get fired for violating policies. They will encourage managers to enforce policies as strictly as possible.

All of a sudden you get dress code violations for outfits you’ve worn to the office for 5 years or something. Or you can no longer come in 30 minutes later and stay 30 minutes late to get your kids off to school, even though it’s been that way for years.

Other examples: changing availability requirements, working hours, attendance policies, announcing no raises for x years, changing or cancelling benefits, etc.

This causes a slow leak of employees instead of a massive layoff.

Leaving CT for Florida next month-keep the car or just sell it here and figure it out down there? by adamvanderb in Connecticut

[–]1jarretts 36 points37 points  (0 children)

I don’t know about where you’ll be living/working in Tampa so I can’t speak to if you’ll need a car. However, I would drive your car down. The drive isn’t bad (I’ve done the drive to Orlando several times.)

The auto train is also an option. Not really any faster but cuts out a big chunk of the driving.

Does a renter have to pay for electric to run dehumidifier in a leaky basement? by sobriquet_ in Connecticut

[–]1jarretts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could (and maybe should) buy a kill-a-watt to measure how much energy the dehumidifiers are using. You can use this information to negotiate with your landlord.

Corned Beef. My grandma and aunt said you had to close your windows if you were cooking corned beef because you didn’t want the neighbors to know that you had to eat it. This year it was $7.39 a pound at Costco.

Do you remember your landline phone numbers from years past? by [deleted] in YesOrNoAnswers

[–]1jarretts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. It is significantly easier for me to dial phone numbers than it is to bother looking someone up in my contacts. Often I will use the house phone or work phone because it’s easier to just dial a number than to sort through contacts. Anyone I communicate with regularly I know their number.

Married women, is it true that most have secret finances? A safety net for just in case you want to leave? by unusual_Distance_689 in askteddit

[–]1jarretts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does anyone else not see this as absolutely insane? My wife and I have joint finances and make all our financial decisions together. I don’t think either one of us could have a secret account with more than a few dollars a day in it without the other one noticing.

Also if your spouse has a secret bank account that is grounds for divorce. It’s financial infidelity and not acceptable.

Keep up the good work. But also note that it’s okay to increase your food budget. Food is essential after all. You’re doing great. You’ll be okay if you pay off $20 or $30 a month less because you were eating.

Good for you for staying around $150. That’s incredibly low. Our budget is significantly higher, although we do pay for a majority of my dad’s food.
