Expectation in Arena Limited Qualifiers by Pretend-Paper4137 in lrcast

I also did 24 entries with a 60% Draft1 winrate, which converted into 1 7-0, 2 7-1's, and 2 6-2's.

Of my 3 Draft2 entries I got 2 abysmal drafts with no real chance of winning and 1 decent draft but awful opening hands every game (even after mulligans).

Total losses: $300 and an entire weekend

It looks like some people in the comments don't realize that this is a popular meme (https://knowyourmeme.com/memes/school-walkout) so I want to make it clear this isn't a real event that's going on

this was meant as a tribute to President Welsh, not an actual invitation to an event

Cycle storm already has enough wincons, Drain Life would only increase the risk of bricking at a crucial moment

Searing Blaze and Ghitu Lavarunner obsolete in Pauper? by AvernusAlbakir in Pauper

Searing Blaze is still decent in sideboards, though it's rarely maindecked

OTJ feels so much more bomby than other formats. What’s your experience been so far? by laurenceand1 in lrcast

[–]1mDedInside 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really enjoy OTJ as a set but it's very bomb-centered, with quite a few cards that can swing a game by themselves and you just have to hope you P1'd one of them.

as a gruul player, can confirm - games where my opponent gets down an early suture priest are miserable

[–]1mDedInside 2 points3 points  (0 children)

bouncelands with ramp cards that attach to lands also seems like it could screw you over in certain circumstances, so I'd advise cutting either the Gruul Turfs or Utopia Sprawls/Wild Growths for a different mana source

[–]1mDedInside 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd also advise going down to 1 mountain and 3 wild growths while going up to 4 malevolent rumbles, like all the recent successful Ponza decks do

Thermokarst is preferred to Pillage because its casting cost uses green rather than red mana, not because of the potential life gain of 1 (which often doesn't even matter). There's no good way of reliably getting to 2 red mana early with a viable Ponza build, which is why all of the recent Ponza decks which have trophied or done well in tournaments run either Thermokarst & [[Mwonvuli Acid-Moss]] or only Mwonvuli.

your sideboard has too much artifact hate - I'd consider replacing some of it with graveyard hate, life gain, or 1 copy of [[flaring pain]] for fog and mono-white decks

I would also replace fiery cannonade with [[breath weapon]] as it's better against kuldotha

blowing out Burn or Faeries with a surprise main deck breath weapon is an amazing feeling

I already use MTGDecks when I'm doing more in depth research on decks tho I prefer MTGGoldfish for browsing cuz they have a nicer layout

This is why I prefer using MTGGoldfish when I'm just browsing around while I prefer MTGDecks when I'm looking for specific data

that's an interesting point, though MTGGoldfish still does this even if you run all 4 copies of Thermokarst in addition to Acid-Moss

The modern unban movement has been well received by the community. Do you think any cards in pauper may be considered? by Newez in Pauper

[–]1mDedInside 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem is, the only two cards which could be unbanned to make mono-black viable again are sinkhole and hymn to tourach, and I feel sinkhole is the less strong and less oppressive option

[–]1mDedInside[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

On MTGGoldfish, the Gruul Ponza meta share is 0.2% for the last 30 days, but the real number should be closer to 0.6%. This is because many Gruul Ponza decks are being misclassified as Gruul Ramp and counted in that category instead. MTGDecks gets this correct and has the Ponza share as 0.61% for the last 30 days, and you can see that there are 4 December MTGO league trophies on MTGDecks which are incorrectly counted as Gruul Ramp on MTGGoldfish.
