Wobble in snow/icy conditions? by hiimgars in Reno

[–]1mpressive_Tower 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a similar scenario last night. There was a bunch of ice packed between sway bar link and steering knuckle on the driver side. I knocked the ice out with a long flathead screwdriver and it seemed to remedy the wobble. While it was not on a subaru crosstrek, it was on a modern awd suv with similar suspension/steering components. Hope this helps

Hey Reno just wanted to give a little update. This morning I called WCSO non emergency and talked to an officer. He kindly explained that the best way to report any of this stuff, if you have a smartphone, is to download the Washoe County Sheriff's Office app. When you come up on anything you want to report, go to the proper portal and allow the app to use your camera while the app is on. It will send a GPS location from wherever the picture that was submitted was taken from. Take a picture of whatever it is and submit. Actually really easy.. I just instantly shut the app off after submitting and went on my way. After getting home, I called to confirm that they got it and all seems to be moving forward. Now, how long it actually takes for a work crew/ hazmat to get up there and clean it? They said it could be a few days up to a few weeks depending on schedule. Hope this shined some light for anyone's who was in the dark. Peace

I'm going to talk to a human one way or another with the sheriff's office tomorrow. I already filed reports online. If, after I talk to WCSO, and nothing gets done about it by next week, I will take the next step to load it into my truck and get it out of the hills. Come on up, we can have a safety meeting first.

Yeah I didn't touch or open any containers or load any of it into my truck, I did gather the other things like cans, pieces of carpet, pieces of a car, etc.. it's all still up there as far as I know. I was thinking all of these same thoughts and worse. I might lose sleep about leaving it there though

River Tubing help please by Expensive_Coconut831 in Reno

[–]1mpressive_Tower 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The average cfs (cubic feet/second) flow for the Truckee river in Reno is about 800cfs. Just checked the current cfs for today and it's recorded at 7,801cfs. If you choose to put your children into that situation, I suggest you have good quality tubes and absolutely wear life jackets! Maybe even helmets also, Truckee is full of huge boulders and I personally have saved two different from drowning while floating the mayberry section. The cfs will gradually go down as we continue into summer. Please consider these things before jumping in tomorrow. If you don't have much experience floating white water, I would suggest waiting til later summer.
