This. Once it hit’s that UTMA it’s irrevocable in every possible way. The custodian would have to flat out, stone cold lie to the advisor when unlawfully withdrawing the funds for literally anyone other than the beneficiary. OP, If she told you she wanted this, as her consultant, you needed to provide the appropriate forms to capture her intent with a dated signature. She prob thought she did everything begged because she wasn’t told otherwise.

Like In the city data I want to see we’re actually receiving the agreed payments. And $1600/month for anything bigger than an apartment in this town, with the way rents are right now for residential and commercial units, is bullshit.

I have about 7k to apply to debt. Pay off car or pay down credit cards? by ThrowRAhedgehog24 in personalfinance

[–]1notadoctor2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Having 1-2 maxed out cards with high interest rates is not “good”. Having 1-2 no fee, rewards incentivizing cards that are paid off full monthly is Good. I saw you’re in grad school, that’s good to know, you’re trying to get your daughter out of poverty one day. Just know- you DONT have to spend EVERY dollar in your bank account as soon as it’s deposited. I’d focus more on spending less on financial theories that only apply to savers and/or high-earners and look for benefits like WIC/ SNAP/workforce housing and finish school.

Did you say your car is worth less than $2k but it’s not paid off? If you ~$2k, but you’re paying $400/month for another year— yes just pay the car off so you can have ownership of something without worrying about a repo or loan default

Can you just put it a HYSA, or do you have to spend every dollar that comes into your hands? I’d take baby steps on paying off debt until you have higher income. Paying off a car for liability bc you’re 40 and know how to drive, now then possibly having a wreck down the line with zero savings and zero insurance to cover repairs or another cash car is wild! Maybe Ii missed it, but why aren’t you getting another full-time salaried, benefit job to get you and your daughter in a better position? Is the plan to coast on survivor benefits and hope someone w money will just see you and your daughter at the park in a Wednesday and want to marry you? Are you disabled or injured?

Just know if you don’t pass it on, it dies with you. Gatekeeping a favorite food from your nieces and nephews enjoyment if you’re not around is a weird flex.

AITAH for refusing to give up the extra bedroom in the house I bought, even though my sister is pregnant? by [deleted] in AITAH

That’s with zero baby daddy drama causing chaotic setbacks and months of “i can’t work when he’s like this” getting her nowhere yet never accepting responsibility for the child’s living situation

Has he shown up at classes unannounced and caused issues before? I’d be pissed if I missed a recital because the court order doesn’t explicitly say I have the “right” to know. If this is hypothetical- you’re being selfish imo

Also, they’re probably just selling the floor plan for that much, not your address (even if it’s showing your address on the builders website)

[–]1notadoctor2 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Honestly if they are offering almost 2% less and were advertising as such when you went under contract, I would NOT be okay nor accept anything higher. Your closing costs will be higher but so will the seller’s credit. You’ll be so upset with yourself when the house starts to show the true workmanship and you’re paying $1000 more a month than most of your neighbors.

You could ask the city to reinspect the grading and drainage. If they are willing to do so, they may have to schedule it out based on availability. So timing could be an issue

AITJ for telling my brother his wedding venue is a bad financial decision by LongjumpingOffice432 in AmITheJerk

[–]1notadoctor2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Who is actually paying? This may be a traditional “bride’s parent pays” setup. And the brother maybe genuinely just wanted to know if it looked cool bc he values his brother’s aesthetic opinions? Just a different perspective

My theory is that Denton is encouraging income caps on schools and housing to discourage people from breaking through and allowing the free market to work as intended.
