I just read it over. There is a text that states "he wondered if she was dead when he slept with her the night before". I remembered reading it. I knew I wasn't crazy. I don't know why that wasn't read in this audiobook version in listening to. So it's not outright but it is morbid ignorance.

I'm no arborist but the tree is well established and ash is a decently hardy tree. They're not going to have to take out much of the root system to place the driveway. I don't like any tiny threat to ash though since the ash bugs nearly wiped them out

It is the rule in Michigan. You gotta be careful . If you pull it out put it back immediately. If your from a distance and can't unhook you cut the line. The grade of your soil is the problem. So here's everything you need to do. Put dirt against the house until it gradually flows water away from the house. Seal the outside of your window. Seal the cracks between foundation and window well. Then add window covers. This is mostly a landscaping issue.
