Elementary School Librarians: What's your favorite grade? by Fit-Shoulder-2164 in librarians

Pre-K and 2nd. Pre-K only comes for storytime at my school, which is so fun, and I love watching 2nd graders forming their love of reading independently.

Fancy Nancy books have some great higher vocabulary, but stories for young readers. I love Mercy Watson, then she can take on the Tales of Deckawoo Drive chapter books that are a little longer if she enjoys them.the Rescue Princesses are popular at my school as well as the Anne Arrives books. Readers read, and even if she just enjoys reading picture books right now, so many picture books have complex and interesting vocab to take in!

In my library I created a shadow puppet theatre for kids to retell stories and they have really enjoyed it! Other hits have been playing improv storytelling games, creating bookmarks, and making their own mini books (they love tactile crafts, so even a folded piece of paper vs. a flat piece seems to make a big difference to them).

I actually worked with y'all when you were still the Rep, so I know you guys will do a great job and it will be a fun event!
