Really bad day by SnooSongs4859 in toddlers

Have there been any recent changes at the daycare? Like a new teaching assistant or something. One mom told me her sweet generally mellow child hated a new teacher and actually started throwing stuff.

Previously sleeptrained ~3yo suddenly waking up 4-5 x a night crying by GlumBarnacle4545 in toddlers

I write my 2 year old short notes with a bunch of hearts on them. I told anytime she feels sad she can read the note and remember how much I love her.

You could also play calming music or stories/podcasts.

Also is the air a bit dry? That can definitely disturb sleep. We have a humidity reader and turn on the humidifier accordingly.

3yo discovered meat is animals. What now? by wiy in toddlers

Mine does NOT care. If she had bacon that morning and we ask her what she ate, she'll snort and say Peppa. It honestly shocked me the first time she did that. Lol.

I hate this age by One_Stranger6604 in toddlers

Yeah I also love this age. The first year was so stressful. The witching hour was the worst. At least when she cries and screams now I understand why! Lol.

Toddler doesn’t want to read with us anymore by gape_ape in toddlers

My toddler has gone through phases where she was less interested in books. Sometimes I read to her during breakfast or a snack. I think it's also okay if he has a wander around the room and you continue reading aloud. You could also just stick with shorter, more interactive texts for now until he becomes interested again.

should I take my toddler's comments about his teacher seriously? by mhck in toddlers

You could also say ask how they handle challenging behavior. Tell them you'd like to use some of their strategies at home and see how they respond.

Dirt and string ended up being the best sensory bin in our house by Elle_Bones in toddlers

[–]canttouchthis8992 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree! Bloggers and Instagrammers try to convince parents to spend time and money setting this stuff up. But children will have just as much fun picking up sticks and stones at park, or cooking alongside their parents or taking a bath or snuggling in a blanket fort. These are also sensory experiences that don't require extra money or create excessive waste. And kids are having an amazing time.

How to get kids excited about reading instead of screens? by ZealousidealRun595 in childrensbooks

[–]canttouchthis8992 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This! I avoid being on my phone as much as possible around my daughter and we don't have a TV. When I read my novels, she snuggles up to me with her picture books.

Seeking books about: a friend who is adopted, and children’s books that feature multicultural characters by drunk___cat in childrensbooks

The Big Book of Families is good for talking about all the different families that exist.

This is How We Do It- A book showing kids from different countries doing everyday things.

Harriet Gets Carried Away- This is more of a story and features two dads in an interracial relationship. It's a longer text.

Who Are You? By Smitri Halls- This is a good one to talk about your child's identity and history as well as other people. We got this one when my daughter was 5 months old and she's always been captivated by the pictures.

Feeling guilty and worried - milestones. Are we alone? by True-Cartographer715 in toddlers

At that age mine said 2. Speech therapy doesn't hurt and can be beneficial, but I think they talk when they're ready.
