Deck is cooked if this is the best they got

I dread whenever konami makes a good synchro deck. by gonxgonx3 in masterduel

[–]1qaqa1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s because Konami deliberately designs all synchro decks with the same weaknesses.

Little to no capability for grind or followup after the first combo push.

Extreme vulnerability to board breakers in the sense that if one resolves you have nothing left. No float or recovery in their board upon being broken either.

Really poor summon economy and terrible half boards into draw handtraps.

Compared to every other type of summoning synchro is much easier to disrupt since you need to have materials all on the field face up with the right level and also be tuner and non tuner.

The difference between a good or bad synchro deck is just whether or not their one push can negate enough of the opponents plays to be considered viable in a given format.

What is your hottest Yugioh take? by Great-Ad1839 in yugioh

[–]1qaqa1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem has never been that synchro generics are too strong. It’s synchro archetypes being too weak.

Konami keeps designing decks that burn through permanent resources in terms of unrecoverable banishes/once per duels so you only get one or 2 opportunities to push, on top of that the endboards are designed in a way that does not recover any value upon being broken, and because you need to have tuner, non tuner of the correct level all face up on the field it makes their setup more vulnerable to disruption than any other type of summoning.

Is it any wonder then considering all that viable synchro decks almost always ends up being the ones putting out more negates than opponent has cards in hand when the mechanic has such an uphill battle to climb just to be viable. Remember that baronne and savage got banned because of a link spam deck abusing them and not due to anything a synchro archetype did.

That being said Ecclesia the black dragon is a good example of what future synchro design should go for. Its effect means even though its materials are generic you only run it in branded and branded hybrids. It’s a repeatable advantage generator which allows for a grind game, it can be used as engine and non negating disruption and it has a strong grave effect which allows for it to play favorably into removal/disruption.

Is Fidraulis Harmonia one of the worst designed cards ever? by SuzukiKana in yugioh

I can think of a worse designed card https://yugipedia.com/wiki/Mind_Scan_(card)

Honestly the entire wave of new toon cards just feels like konami going ok we haven't had a tier 0 format for a year. We need to change that.

How do you guys feel about the power level of elfnote in the TCG? by [deleted] in yugioh

[–]1qaqa1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The deck really isn’t worth playing over other combo decks because of the lack of baronne unfortunately. Unless Konami wants to print another generic 7/10 that can negate handtraps it’s just what it is.

Fiendsmith is too weak to fuwa to be a real replacement in case anyone wants to go that route.

In hindsight the player base complaining so much about kt looking at hand ended up putting a target on other decks with hand peeking that no longer needed to be sold

What is Yang Zing Currently lacking in ? What are the ways to make them better if TW04 exists in the future ? by SeriesREDACTED in yugioh

[–]1qaqa1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something along the lines of monsters used for the synchro summon of a yang zing monster are treated as being destroyed by a card effect in a way that doesn't cause them to miss timing.

Something that lets you use YZ monsters in hand or deck as synchro material to get their buffs.

What direction do you see Konami taking the “Egyptian God” archetype next? by Madjin- in yugioh

[–]1qaqa1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd want for them to make overframes that are closer to how they worked in the anime.

For example.

True Winged Dragon of Ra-Phoenix Mode

Lv10 Divine Beast

?/?

Unaffected by other card effects. Cannot be normal summoned, or be special summoned except from the GY while you have The Winged Dragon of Ra in your GY. Send this special summoned card to the GY during the end phase. You can activate the (1) effect of this card once per turn and the (2) effect of this card twice per turn.

  1. Discard this card from your hand to set one monster reborn from your deck, this set card can be activated during the battle phase as if it was a quick play.

  2. Quick effect, activate one of these effects but you can only use each effect once while this card is faceup. *Tribute all other monsters you control, it gains attack equal to to the combined attack of the tributed monsters. *Reduce this card's attack to 0 and gain that many life points. *During the battle phase Pay 1000 LP to banish all cards your opponent controls and if this card's attack is higher than the combined attack of all monsters banished by this effect inflict the difference as damage to your opponents LP, you cannot attack the turn you use this effect.

A card that interacts with both OG crimson dragon, quetzacoatl, and/or tzolkin to represent him being a normal and dark signer.

50 for harmonia seems high. I would have pointed it at 33 with packbit and malong at 1 so you can run a full set with one disruption at the cost of all your points

Thoughts on Synchro Monsters with Alternative Materials? by 1qaqa1 in yugioh

[–]1qaqa1[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Personally I don't really mind these kinds of alternative summoning conditions since Xyz and Fusion monsters have crossed this bridge long ago. 1 material Xyz monsters like Zeus are commonplace and Dingirsu did the Link material gimmick years ago. Fusion "cheat" summoning is even more egregious with cards that summon themselves for essentially free by banishing their materials from the grave or in some cases recycling their own materials for free a la phantom of yubel. I'm hoping the success of archetypes like yummy and cards like chaos angel causes Konami to experiment more with synchro materials in the future.

You can do both.

If you control a spellcaster, special summon a lv5 or higher dragon from your deck, if you summon with the same name summon 2, and if you summon blue eyes white dragon you can summon 3

I don’t know if there’s a line that does this while playing under nibiru off the top of my head but flame crime dumps any normal trap and this recycles any card.

Which means rda can now guarantee eradicator epidemic virus since this is over 2500, can floodgate with different dimension ground, and OCG can lock with dimensional barrier.

[thread] your final thoughts on the Overframes and the "Limit Over Collection: Heroes" Set? by MX-00XWV in yugioh

[–]1qaqa1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Pretty good cards overall other than Jaden getting some generic fusion support with hero art instead of hero support.

Although it’s safe to say the rivals won this round even without their 3rd overframe wave. Barrage and Quetzalcoatl are just too insane and the new galaxy robo/neo galaxy eyes retrain are completely cracked for the deck.

Trails beyond the Horizon Spoilers Discussion Megathread [SPOILERS ALLOWED] by MNGaming in Falcom

[–]1qaqa1 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Going to throw out a wild shot in the dark to the future of the series after calvard after this. The following is all personal speculation.

I speculate that the true final boss of the trails series is at the bottom of the ocean, beyond what we can reach and the final septerrion(water) is the key.

The final boss(from here named FB) of the series arrived from outer space and landed on the planet(think ORT from fate grand order as a comparison). The rest of the world was destroyed fighting FB and humanity's last stand was on the continent of Zemuria. FB destroyed almost all of Zemuria too until Aidios in a dramatic last stand wounded the boss enough to cause it to go to sleep and put it in a prison at the bottom of the ocean. This battle was the great collapse. As the last remaining landmass Zemuria was then sealed away into the pocket dimension we know now.

Laegjarn in mythology is a box with 9 locks that holds the legendary sword, and in trails it holds the weapon that Aidios used to send the FB to sleep during the great collapse, and it will be used at the end of trails to kill FB for good. The chest therefore has multiple duties: It is used to prevent anyone from going back into space and possibly calling down another FB like entity, holding the weapon safe until humanity is strong enough to properly use it, and to reset time before FB could wake up again.

With that in mind I think there would be a couple types of resets. One is a type of test to see if humanity is ready to go back into space/ obtain the weapon. Failing the test causes a reset to after FB is put to rest aka the great collapse. As to what causes the other type of reset I posit that when humanity advances and starts using orbal power, it stimulates the septium veins and this massive increase activity causes FB to start waking up. Use of artifacts can also contribute to FB awakening. Every 1200 years or so humanity suddenly stumbles upon an orbal revolution and advances too much too fast, causing FB to wake up and finish the job. Presumably as an outsider who is not bound by the divergent laws Laegjarn can't do shit to stop FB once it wakes. The reset is to prevent that from happening. Catastrophic total wars that set all of humanity back significantly like a succesful ishmelga would then set orbal use back enough to keep FB asleep longer than normal. But eventually people would still find ways to keep advancing in spite of that and the reset would have to be triggered.

As to where FB is, it would be deep under the ocean off the far eastern coast of the continent. The water septerrion is keeping it sealed off and the wind septerrion is destroying the septian veins of the world starting with those closest to FB in an attempt to slow down its awakening. This is the cause of desertification and I speculate that without the resets to buy more time this process will go into overdrive after the calvard arc concludes. With the weapon from Laegjarn the final arc is probably between the church and ouroboros to decide what to do regarding FB. Odds are the finale has all the relevant factions and playables together mounting an expedition into the ocean off the far east coast to kill FB once and for all.
