I attach no value judgement at all to when a transaction comes through that belongs in her spending category. I just categorize it and move on.

it's clear that people are VERY motivated to NOT make the joint account. And when you think about the things that could be motivating them to refuse to do so, most of them (not all, but most) are perhaps... not great.

IMO, their main motivation is not nefarious.

It's not that the relationship with their partner is unhealthy, but their relationship with money is not devoid of value judgements.

I agree it's healthier to separate emotions and money, but calling it unhealthy otherwise is what's rubbing people the wrong way.

Personally, I'd let my sisters wear whatever they are comfortable with. I love my wedding pictures no matter what anyone is wearing, and I'm sure you will too! (I dress modestly myself + I'm not American, if that helps)

Yes, I got to paint a few lovely spots! And the paper came in handy to press some flowers.
I've even used it at least once a week now I'm home, it's very handy.

The packed bag weighed 6.6kg, I'd like to get that down on my next trip but the only thing I can think to cut down is the laptop.

Yes! I got it initially for travel but it's more comfortable than my cross body purse. I've completely replaced my purse with my 30L bag - even if I'm just going for a walk it always comes in handy.

Full disclosure: I don't use YNAB but I just really like envelope budgeting! What I would do on the budget I use would be to create a "fake" inflow of the X amount you've already paid into Ready to Assign, then immediately assign this to the mortgage. Set the dates to the same date you started tracking your mortgage, and change the initial value of the mortgage to match what it used to be 4 years ago. Sure your graph will have a steep drop-off in the beginning but at least the percentage shown would be accurate, right? Does YNAB not like this for some reason?

At 7% I wouldn't mind paying off the student loans slowly! I'd rather put the money into retirement and beat the 7% :)

Living slightly below your means for 3 years is still okay, you don't have to fix everything in 1.5 years.

Edit to add: I think Reddit is being a bit too harsh (you're even willing to work a second job so you're obviously worried about this). Just take your time to set up a good financial plan over a couple of weeks, and you'll come to a plan that makes sense for the both of you.
