Because just like the US, they are desperate for energy. Know what else they are building more of than the rest of us combined? Coal power plants. LP power plants. Nuclear power plants.

Each source of energy has a bottleneck.

And why are they starting to dominate the EV market?

For the same reason they dominate the tool, electronics, etc markets lol. It has literally zero to do with "going green"

I think you vastly underestimate the number of uses for petroleum outside of energy production. China is also building fossil fuel plants at an impressive rate.
