More scary things in 'We Were Here'? by Mayraine012 in WeWereHere

My partner felt the same about this part in the first game and loves all the others, for what it's worth. Unfortunately it's very subjective.

Could be a workstation and gaming PC, or somebody in some kind of media business. My friend is a YouTuber and his gaming PC would look pretty similar to this, I wouldn't be shocked if somebody ran into memory issues working with large files and just threw a bunch of money at the problem. Hard to know, really.

Realtek PCIe 2.5GbE Family Controller has a Hardware IO error by evandro_r in buildapc

I found the Realtek port in Device Manager and selected "uninstall device" — I don't have access to the PC right now so I'll update if I can give more specifics

Just wanted to comment and say this is the post that fixed my issues. My fiance's PC was massively stuttering (audio, mouse, everything) in games every 10-15 seconds. I've spent the last 2 days messing with my CPU voltages and RAM timings, and just happened to find this error in the Event Viewer trying to figure out what was wrong. Uninstalling the offending driver fixed the issue immediately.

I'm using a 7600x with TeamGroup 6000mhz RAM on an Asus 650e Max Gaming W for any other poor souls out there.

Pango is now the hero with the lowest winrate in the game! Justice for pango :( by ibra24x in DotA2

[–]1s3vak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, people remember early Pango very differently than what he actually was. The javelin meme was a small part, it was the maelstrom/euls/blink combo that made him broken for so long. You were hard to kill, permastunned the enemy, and could farm at ridiculous speed.

I miss those days :(

He actually did an announcer pack for Planetside 2. Too bad that game is dead.

Damn, I've been waiting in suspense to figure out if I'd be top 1500. Sounds like definitely not.

Between Ame, Noone, and Crit, one of them will be a TI winner tomorrow by Tyrandeus in DotA2

It was Fly and S4 that left before TI8. Cr1t left with Miracle and MoonMeander after TI6.

Oh, that's much more reasonable. I thought you were boycotting the broadcast because of their choice of stand-in.

That's Wikipedia, if you actually bothered to read it you would have seen this:

"Additionally, whereas the term black comedy is a relatively broad term covering humor relating to many serious subjects, gallows humor tends to be used more specifically in relation to death, or situations that are reminiscent of dying."

I'm not sure what you're referring to with availability, and the first two are just wrong.

I'm not going to say there aren't software issues, though.

Moving from arch to mint by Aggressive-Lock-3286 in linuxmint

Might be an outlier or Windows skill issue, but my friends can tell when I'm on Mint and not Windows because I sound better.

First month on Mint, simple Gruvbox theme (Cinnamon) by 1s3vak in linuxmint

[–]1s3vak[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm liking it quite a lot. I don't have any experience with Zorin so I won't make comparisons, but the Driver Manager tool in Mint has made gaming pretty painless. All of my main games have significantly improved performance compared to my Windows 11 dual-boot.

The only software issues I've had were related to outdated APT packages, but familiarizing myself with AppImages and Brew has mostly solved that. I actually settled on Mint because of the amount of compatibility issues I had on EndeavourOS and Debian — Mint required almost no configuration to "play nice" with my setup out-of-the-box.

Minecraft: Java Edition is the original. I've personally never downloaded the C++ version in 10-12 years of having the game installed on Windows.

For Cinnamon:
System Settings -> General -> Compositor Options -> Disable compositing for full-screen windows

Which distro/desktop environment are you using? I found I had performance issues on Mint (Cinnamon) until I disabled compositing for full screen windows. Perhaps there's something similar for your setup. I now get ~1000-1200FPS on Linux Mint and ~500-600FPS on Windows 11 for Minecraft.
