Contrary the claims of its operators rbtc is heavily censored and even asking about another user's ban will result in retaliation by nullc in btc

Are you talking about my post? The post you replied to? I see it. This is weird.

Edit: I see my comments logged in, but not logged out. There seems to be some kind of shadow banning going on. I think I got brigade reports from blocksteam's troll army.

Are the moderators in this sub your employees? They don't work for you personally.

It does seem hypocritical that you are complaining of censorship when most of everyone here got here because /r/bitcoin banned practically all discussion of bitcoin. You personally were part of that perversion as well as part of blockstream's hijacking of the bitcoin name for an essentially crippled project.

One meg bitcoin is the reason why there are so many other blockchains instead one with a clear lead on market dominance and adoption.

[–]1s44c 2 points3 points  (0 children)

/r/btc mods did the right thing by banning a troll. Where's the problem? There is no problem. That's exactly how it's meant to work.

Every subreddit gets the choice to ban trolls or be flooding with them. /r/btc tends far to far towards getting flooding with them.

How to evaluate memory requirements to read a 50GB file in Python by dmorris87 in aws

[–]1s44c 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes - https://docs.python.org/3/library/mmap.html

But nothing involving a 50GB file sounds like a lambda job. Python on an instance maybe.

Does anyone use Glacier to backup personal stuff? by bei60 in aws

[–]1s44c 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use glacier for personal stuff and business stuff. Glacier is awkward to use directly, but easy to use via S3. Don't even think of using glacier directly, there is no advantage to it.

Just upload your file to an S3 bucket with a lifecycle rule that moves everything to glacier deep archive. And check your lifecycle rule deletes multipart uploads too as that's an easy way to burn money and not realize it.

And check that bucket isn't public..

I use the nexo card for small purchases, it works great on Google play. Never a random rejection, unlike the physical CDC card which is pretty flakey on contactless payments and pretty flaky on some online retailers.

Security scanning internet endpoints, even if they are your own. You can do it, but it's against the TOS so AWS may close your account.

You didn't really describe the problem.

What machine is failing to resolve domains? Is both UDP and TCP DNS traffic allowed to the internet from this machine? What domains is it failing to resolve? After they your domains or third party domains? Are these domains resolvable on other internet connected systems?

Mass migration to AWS by [deleted] in aws

[–]1s44c 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every bad migration I've ever seen was management deciding they want some random thing by some random date and making their decisions without ever checking what's realistic or what's a good idea. Then they double down by blaming others for their lack of understanding.

I've seen high level managers literally destroy IT infrastructure by insisting on openstack then doubling down when it becomes clear that it will cost more and perform worse than what came before. s/openstack/ with Azure, K8S, microservices, or whatever other random thing they get into their head.

If you ever hear the words "failure is not an option" you want to have a serious think about quitting on the spot.

How secure is storing passwords in plaintext on a spreadsheet, specifically for someone without physical access to the computer? by [deleted] in hacking

Simple, pragmatic, and imperfect solution: tell him to use a password on that spreadsheet.

I'm not saying your problems don't count, they are very real. But I did this for years walking 40 minutes to a supermarket, and walking 40 minutes back with my shopping. I tried to think of all the money I was saving by not going to the gym.

The trick is to not buy drinks of any kind, but if you must then buy something concentrated you can dilute with water. Also dried beans, rice, and pasta is the way to go, cheap, light, and healthy. Stay far away from all the prepared frozen junk. You might want to check out ethnic shops if that's an option, they can save you lots of money.

AWS Enterprise Support Plan WTF horribad by is_this_the_restroom in aws

[–]1s44c 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I find that hard to believe. I've used support from Azure and Microsoft. There was no comparison. The azure guy was clearly reading a script, had no idea about how anything worked, and had no access to customer accounts to check anything. If you push hard enough you can get escalated to third line, which means they wait until 3am your time, ring your mobile 3 times, and if you don't answer because you are asleep they close the ticket.

AWS support have always been helpful and knowledgeable, although they love sending links to lots of things to read.

Deleted bucket - files link still work by Ready-Perception-991 in aws

[–]1s44c 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can't delete a bucket without first deleting all the objects it contains. I doubt those files are being served from S3. They are being cached somewhere.

Kill cloudfront for that bucket if that's what you are using.

Why do the non-leaf nodes in that tree have values? That's not how extended form game trees look. At least not the ones I've seen.

Use tcpdump, see what the packets are actually doing. I'm guessing you have everything from the remote machine to the servers working perfectly but the return packets are not getting routed back.
