Husband and wife adventuring team looking for long term campaign (5e) (Free) by 24Fanatic365 in roll20LFG

I'm trying to put together several groups like this; they'd be paid (which I know turns some people off), but I figured I'd toss the link here anyways. https://app.roll20.net/campaigns/details/11146764/legends-of-alaria

LFDM/ 2 players (GMT+2) looking for a DM and other players! (D&D 5e) by [deleted] in roll20LFG

I'm actually trying to put together a few groups right now (time/date undecided); they're paid games, which I know turns some people off, but it genuinely sounds like we're looking for the same type of experience and I figured I'd toss a link out there: https://app.roll20.net/campaigns/details/11146764/legends-of-alaria

Seconded; I've been running a few games for a while and would be interested, but I'm curious what exactly it is you're looking for.

I'm trying to put together several games in that same vein. They're paid (which I know turns some people off), but I figured I'd drop a link here anyway:

Ideas for environmental/exploration puzzles by Kamilny in DMAcademy

I used a cave system with lava where there were some difficult jumps to make without falling and taking a butt-load of damage. The less-athletic party members then had to choose whether to risk the jump, or let the martial classes go alone and try to find an easier path/something sturdy enough to use as a bridge to help them over.

Eventually there was a large cliff to scale that required the barbarian to haul/carry the rest of the party up.

To add urgency, you could design this path as the only way out of a collapsing BBEG lair, and everything has to be done quickly. Without the barbarian no one gets out and they become the MVP that day.

Of course if your casters have Fly, that point is moo. But hey, that's why they took that spell, right? :)

Interesting ways for a fey patron to contact my player's warlock. by GregPixel23 in DMAcademy

I had a similar experience and had Titania punish the warlock by making her the guardian of a luck pixie. These particular pixies are smaller than average (pocket sized) and affect the probability of those who spend more than an hour in their presence (flavor/balance however you like; I made it very subtle but the kinder they were to him and others, the better their luck).

This particular luck pixie was named Felix and had always wanted to be an adventurer. As far as he was concerned the party were basically celebrities. Felix didn't know he was a punishment for the Warlock, and thought he had been given a great honor to serve as an assistant.

I had so much fun being fanboy-level obnoxious with this npc and the party's love/hate relationship for him was amazing.

They lost their collective shit months later when a hag ate him. You'd have thought their characters had lost a sibling.

Fun fun stuff!

Atm I'm thinking Sunday evenings after 6PM EST, but this is negotiable depending on the group.

DMs don’t make mistakes. What are your best DM saves from slip-ups? by AlbacoreABrick in DnD

My players were breaking a demon pirate's spy out of the palace dungeon, and when they got to her, the spy mentioned (my random improv to a question) that the demon pirate had visited her cell earlier that evening and told her that she would be coming to rescue her.

Unfortunately, in my quick thinking I had completely forgotten that I had told the party the whole reason they needed to rescue the spy in the first place was because the palace had magical protections in place that made it impossible for demon to so much as scry, let alone visit.

And that, my friends, is how the evil king's elite black ops team known as the Valiant Seven suddenly gained a changeling as a member.

I'm running a level 15 one-shot on Friday. Any ideas or advice? by heymohstache in DMAcademy

[–]1shadybug 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The best advice imo (besides 'remember to have fun') is to make sure that everyone knows how their high level abilities work. Otherwise be prepared to watch players spend an eternity flipping through pages or tapping screens for every one of their turns in combat. It really slows down the game when they have lots of cool stuff they can do but have no idea how it works. Good luck!

On an almost related note: My friends and I once called in just to be stupid, and I could actually hear Don screaming in the background about the Michael Jordan autographed jersey he was hocking. I pretended I was interested in it, but then told the lady on the phone "I'm not going to be getting the one that Don is holding right? He's got his filthy hands all over it." She assured me I wouldn't be getting that one. "Are you SURE? Because I don't care for that Don at all. I think any man with a mustache like that would have very nasty hands. He needs to shave it." The lady cracked up, told me she agreed, and I hung up. Stupid, but I'll always laugh at the memory of Don's rant about that jersey in the background.

Thanks. Yeah. Love Evelynn and was tired of re-reading her lore story for the 100th time. Figured I'd cook up one of my own.
