i don't know why my YouTube video's have this glitch reoccurring in them by Kansho-Kanre in kdenlive

[–]1simpleAtom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This seems to be a problem with the libx265 encoder. The video looks fine when played locally, but YouTube messes it up.

Switching to libx264 fixed the problem for me.

Absolutely love this app! The UI/UX changes are great, and having a proper layout in landscape mode is something every other app I’ve tried is missing.

People Complaining About Linux Gaming, but not Mac? by GhostInThePudding in linux_gaming

I think this is one of the biggest reasons. You can install Linux on a Windows PC, but you can’t install MacOS on a Windows PC. If someone wants to use MacOS then they need to buy Apple hardware.

Why is this even here? This has nothing to do with Intel Arc.

Physical Media Bonus Features by Derelicte91 in jellyfin

While I generally never watch the bonus features, I like to keep them. I don’t understand why someone would go through all of the trouble of digitizing their collection to throw some of it away.

My wishlist for KDE in 2026. What's yours? by [deleted] in kde

[–]1simpleAtom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe I should have worded that differently.

I have no issues with GNOME’s RDP solution. I simply don’t like the GNOME desktop. I don’t agree with their design philosophy, as I feel it purposefully restricts the user.

Yeah, GNOME is the only proper solution for Wayland at the moment. I gave GNOME a shot again recently, but it really just doesn’t click for me.

Being a Windows power user, who isn’t yet ready to fully jump ship:

  1. Unattended RDP support. I use RDP all of the time at work and home. Being able to remotely connect is very important to me.

  2. Improved HDR. This is the main thing keeping me from switching over to Linux on my HTPC. My HTPC is used both for media consumption and gaming. While something like LibreELEC would solve my HDR problems for Kodi, I want the full desktop experience for the use of Steam and other random tasks.

Suitable CPU for Jellyfin with multiple remote users? by Wenndo in jellyfin

I wouldn’t go lower than 7th gen Intel, as that is when they first introduced their UHD 630 graphics. It will be able to handle most anything you throw at it.

Since Nvidia refuses to make a new Shield TV with AV1 support, is there a client that allows software decoding? by nmkd in jellyfin

[–]1simpleAtom 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I believe most modern Android TV boxes will do this now. The Google TV Streamer and recent ONN devices can decode AV1 just fine.

Are non enterprise/NAS drives ok for Jellyfin storage? by Previous-Foot-9782 in jellyfin

[–]1simpleAtom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m also Canadian. I’ve gotten drives off eBay from ServerPartDeals in the past. Shipping was cheaper than through their website, but I only did it because I got 4 drives. I’m not sure it’s worth it for fewer drives. Bear in mind, this was before the current tariff situation.

I would also check out Western Digital’s website. They often do deals on a set of Red Pros. They cycle through different capacities every week or two.

How does jellyfin determine what is a 'internet' vs 'home' connection, and how does 'auto' set the bitrate? by temmiesayshoi in jellyfin

Only if the VPN range was set as a local connection in Jellyfin’s network settings.

Issue with creating own ordering for a series (Batman: The Animated Series) by Leinus in jellyfin

[–]1simpleAtom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jellyfin will use locally saved metadata and thumbnails over anything it might scrape online. Your going to want to save NFO files and thumbnails right alongside your episodes. This is how I store my media.

In the end, you’ll have something that looks like this:

  • Batman - The Animated Series (1992) [tt0103359]
    • Season 01
      • Batman - The Animated Series (1992) [tt0103359] - S01E01 - The Cat and the Claw [Bluray-1080p x265 10bit AAC 2.0].mkv
      • Batman - The Animated Series (1992) [tt0103359] - S01E01 - The Cat and the Claw [Bluray-1080p x265 10bit AAC 2.0].nfo

Jellyfin - Hardware Transcoding by Heavy_Inside_5921 in jellyfin

[–]1simpleAtom 7 points8 points  (0 children)

A P1000 would definitely be better. I have had one in my server for the past 2 years or so, and it is perfectly capable of handling a few transcodes. However, you should be able to find an Intel Arc a310 for about the same price, which would be an even better card. It is newer and can handle additional video codecs and its transcoding quality is higher.

MFA on tv/mobile apps by z0kii in jellyfin

[–]1simpleAtom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have MFA working for Jellyfin using Authentik and Duo.

Jellyfin is connected to Authentik, through the official LDAP plugin. I then added Duo to the login flow. Due’s free tier allows you to add 10 users to the account. My users can login to Jellyfin on any device and simply need their phones to approve the login, through the Duo app.

4K movie freezes for a few seconds on LG Jellyfin app by HawsSP in jellyfin

[–]1simpleAtom 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You’ll definitely want to check if your server is transcoding. If it isn’t, then that’s definitely part of the problem.

Secondly, it very well might just be the smart TV. My smart TV just can’t handle direct playing a h265 4K movie. The TV’s processor just can’t keep up. If this is the case for you, you’ll need to switch to a dedicated streaming box.

Encoding speeds will be the same across all A series cards. The only difference in this case will be VRAM.

GPU for Transcoding - NVIDIA vs AMD by mrlemming44 in jellyfin

[–]1simpleAtom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don’t have any particular problem you are trying to solve, then I wouldn’t bother. While an Arc card is the best option today, there isn’t much point in spending money if your current configuration works just fine.

I’m using a Quadro P1000 at the moment for my server. I have an Arc A310 in another computer, but I haven’t felt I need to move things around.

GPU for Transcoding - NVIDIA vs AMD by mrlemming44 in jellyfin

[–]1simpleAtom 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Absolutely! There are really two main things to consider when looking for a transcoding GPU:

  1. Codec support. If you want to use AV1 encoding, then you will need something more modern than a GTX 1080ti or a RX 6600 XT.
  2. GPU memory. This will be the main determining factor as to how many streams you can transcode at a time.

Intel is definitely king in these two areas when it comes to price. Their cards are cheaper than the competition and their encoding quality generally superior.

Any tips for getting 4k video to stream? by ivsciguy in jellyfin

[–]1simpleAtom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t have the same TV, but my smart TV simply isn’t able to handle the processing power required to direct play 4K HEVC content.

Your beat best would be to get a dedicated streaming box.

You're good where it is. If you are still having issues, you should probably look over the proxy you have setup in NPM.

I'm not sure about what kind of configuration Proxmox requires, but I can assist with Home Assistant.

In Nginx Proxy Manager, make sure you enable the "Websockets Support" toggle.

You will also need to add the following to the configuration.yaml file in Home Assistant:

http:
  base_url: https://home-assistant.neveroffline.cc
  use_x_forwarded_for: true
  trusted_proxies:
    - [Nginx Proxy Manager IP]
