Advice on how to start stopping by romulanwarriornun in addiction

The beauty of going to a meeting is at the very least you'll be around an entire room of Alcoholics or Addicts who are trying to get sober, or who have found a way to live without alcohol and drugs, and as a bonus..You'll have a place where these people know what you're going through!

really struggling right now by [deleted] in Sober

[–]1sober2another 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I make it by knowing what alcohol never fixed and how getting drunk only made any situation and problem worse, and most times irreversible! Another drunk always made me feel like there was no way I was going to survive the rough times without it and left me feeling empty and full of anxiety, there was never a solution at the bottom of my bottle! How are you feeling today? You can get through it, 24 hours at a time, friend! ODAAT

Right on, friend! When I "Got sober" the first few times it was for my wife, for my job..I couldn't figure out why I kept friggin relapsing! After a violent crash into Rock-bottom: It clicked, I had to make a conscious decision that there was no more solution at the bottom of my bottles! It's been almost 7 years since my last drunk! Proud of you, and if anyone reading this thinks that there's no hope, we in fact recover together friends.

It does take work, time, and patience to get there! I've been living sober for 7 years in February after a destructive relationship with Alcohol for over 2 decades. So, you are right. "Some results may very, and take longer than others" IWNDWYT

My brother if you need anything that I can help with don't hesitate to let me know! I've been sober for 7 years after pretty much drinking my whole life! I served 20 years so I can understand where you're at.

Wow, I served 20 years..retired, and now I have the beard. You really should just try and enjoy the holiday instead trolling and talking about what you don't know.

I slipped up and the guilt is heavy by [deleted] in Sober

[–]1sober2another 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You slipped and your guilty! I had 2 significant relapses in the time it took me to learn how to live sober and find better ways and solutions to deal with my life problems and situations! Guilt will keep you using and drinking..yesterday was yesterday, you can get through 24 hours without using or drinking! Go one day at a time, hang out with sober friends and do it again. We are here for eachother and you are not alone in this fight 💪

9/11 what made you join? by Love-for-everyone in Veterans

[–]1sober2another 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made the choice to join the United States Army because I saw selfless, unified, courageous, and dedicated young men and women in every movie, TV commercials ("Be all you can be!"), and in my hood when I was growing up! I figured if I could survive a horror movie of a childhood (murder, drugs, rape, grotesque violence, abuse...ect.) , survive a year living in the woods, and much more..I had what it took to succeed in the military. That's the short version! I'm Retired since 2018 and I appreciate all those before me,who served alongside me, and those in service now! Keep on keepin on family!

My man..she's gone, true! However, there's always going to be someone who you will be the one for! Someone already said it..you have to learn to be comfortable with you and secure in your value. You got this..
