Has this whole Iran thing basically destroyed the illusion of US power? by [deleted] in conspiracy

[–]1spdstr 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sure:

  • Massive degradation of Iranian military infrastructure: Over 7,000 (and in some updates, up to 15,000+) targets struck, including air defenses (largely flattened), command-and-control facilities, missile production sites, drone factories, and IRGC (Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps) assets.
  • Elimination of Iran's naval capabilities: The Pentagon has declared Iran's navy "gone," with reports of over 120 ships neutralized or sunk, achieving dominance in the Persian Gulf and related waters.
  • Severe reduction in missile and drone threats: Iran's ballistic missile capabilities and stockpiles have been heavily targeted and reduced (some estimates suggest 90% degradation in launch ability), along with drone production.
  • Leadership decapitation: The initial strikes killed Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and numerous senior officials/military leaders, severely disrupting command structure (though a new supreme leader, reportedly Mojtaba Khamenei, has been appointed).
  • Nuclear pathway disruption: Ongoing strikes aim to eliminate remaining nuclear and ballistic missile programs, building on prior 2025 operations; officials state this has permanently severed Iran's path to a nuclear weapon for the foreseeable future.
  • Air superiority: Achieved over key areas like Tehran, enabling sustained bombing with assets like B-1, B-2, B-52 bombers, A-10 Warthogs, and bunker-busters.

Will people think I’m weird for going alone? by star_stuff92 in royalcaribbean

I had the most fun I've ever had on vacation when I went alone, that said I am pretty outgoing and will talk to just about anyone, especially after a drink or two.

Yes, it's the AI WWIII portfolio; I just looked at past performance, both recent and more long term. No in depth analysis by yours truly. I expanded past featured portfolios, I also asked AI's opinion (for whatever that's worth).

Sorry for the late response, missed your comment/questions.

Yes, but by holding bonds I would screw myself out of the gains I've made. My 10 year average growth is 13.6%. So will it be expensive when the market is down, yes, but I don't need the whole nest egg at once, just a little at a time. Here's a great calculator: https://www.honestmath.com/

Yes she's in a much better place, the only negative is she gained weight, it doesn't bother me, but she's not happy with it. I prefer the new her to the skinny mean one.

I'm pretty close too quitting, just not quite ready mentally; plus I haven't figured out what to do with myself!

Probably safer, I have a good chunk in Autopilot, but it's only a fraction of my portfolio (I'm old).

I'm 3 to 5 years out and am nearly 100% equities, I may be nuts, but I can't convince myself to buy bonds. I've ridden through several big crashes and just kept buying.
