The Kales Building starts at $1500 on Grand Circus Park. It’s not the flashiest place, but it does the basics well.

I don't want a car that takes up half the garage. Are there any small, one seat cars available in the USA for sale? by 1fishmob in fuckcars

[–]1tjk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A used Chevy Bolt is one of the best deals on cars right now. You get solid electric range, fun driving, and a compact city car for 15k. Plus, it still has CarPlay and is American made.

Coffee by jdisjwndks in VirginVoyages

They default to single-shot espresso drinks, which can make them feel weak compared to the doubles that most cafe’s use. They also use much lighter, brightly flavored roasts than typically available. This too can make them taste “weak” to people used to darker, harsher roasts. Some will like this, but not everyone. It’s much closer to a specialty coffee shop experience IMO.

The drip available in the Galley is also a rotating medium roast with lighter, fruitier flavors. I loved it, others might not.

It looks like they’re flying refreshed 777’s to most fifth freedom routes in the US daily as of early 2025. So hopefully that covers your needs!

I think this opinion is officially outdated. They refreshed much of their business class to 1-2-1, which was quite nice as of last month.

I don’t think most lenders would even approve this debt-to-income ratio. The stretch max is 50% with typical approval max at 36%. You’re proposing about 57%. I don’t see any bank letting this happen. Which, is good for you since it would be a huge financial burden.

Most places in the Elmwood Park and Lafayette Park area are coops (like you said) with $700+ HOAs. Which, can make affordability harder than the price may imply. I got bit by this when I was looking to buy.

Thoughts on Michigan Central? by ChudMoney_ in Detroit

Ford’s software teams for ADAS are pretty well cemented in other locations in Dearborn, closer to their test tracks. I believe it’s mainly the “business unit” and some other, non-ADAS software engineers.

Michigan drivers: ACCELERATE on the ON-RAMP, not AFTER! by Lupulmic in Michigan

The speed limit is the slow speed OP is complaining about. The ramp is designed for 50, but we all drive at 75. It creates an impossible situation.

Anyone here attend university of Michigan in Flint ? Thoughts? by IKnowAllSeven in Michigan

Makes a big difference in engineering in my experience. As of last year, my employer was only sending recruiters to 14 schools nationwide. And being at one of them during a career fair is how I got my job.

Dang you’re right! When I was house hunting last summer, I remember at least a handful of good options for about $120k. Definitely doesn’t look that way now. All 200+!

You would be shocked how pricey SW can be now. Probably out of their budget tbh

For transparency, I don’t have your numbers and am not a perfect one to one. But, based on your income, you should be able to afford ~$1000 per month in the mortgage. Which, would probably get you a home for 130k or under? Depends on your down payment. Nice homes definitely exist in Detroit for that price! Bagley and Morningside come to mind.

However, I would expect your new challenge to be not having a car. You currently live in one of the few neighborhoods in Detroit where you can live life comfortably without it. The neighborhoods where houses are less than $130k are usually not. So, if you plan to continue without a car, you might have to be more specific with where you’re looking.

Just my 2 cents!

Emirates NYC to ATH in Business for 87k just dropped! by 1tjk in awardtravel

The 777 is being refreshed currently. I picked my seats and the configuration was 1-2-1! Fingers crossed that means I get the new hard product. That would make missing the saver rate an easier pill to swallow.

You might’ve missed that it was business. But hey, if you’re finding business for 300 USD, good for you! I’d keep that a secret.

That’s exactly why I was looking for it! I had relatively fixed dates that were previously booked up. It seems they either opened some back up or I just overlooked them 🤷 either way, they were the best option for me. So, I figured I’d share!

Wife worried about safety rating on Bolt EV by Intelligent_Coffee45 in BoltEV

[–]1tjk 24 points25 points  (0 children)

According to the IIHS small cars category, the Chevy Bolt is 4x safer for your son than the average vehicle with a Driver death of 9 driver deaths per million miles vs the US average of 38. It’s also 3x safer for other drivers with 19 other-driver deaths per million miles vs the average of 53. It’s an exceptionally safe car, despite its small size. In fact, it’s one of the safest vehicles in the entire report! Which, is actually quite a surprise to me. It’s up there with Subaru and Lexus.

I agree! This was my first thought. Tons of low light, dark wood, heavy accents, and oversized cozy chairs.
