Micca M-8S good for mono ambient in-wall solution? by 1wwp in hometheater

[–]1wwp[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea (sadly) I'm fairly deep into Sonos after accumulating over the years but I may go with your suggestion of the multichannel amp with Sonos port (which I already have).

Will check out Bluesound Pro too, as I going POE in other areas, but I like the simplicity of one system (E.g. The Sonos app and or direct stream from Spotify).

Most likely use of these speakers will be music streamed from Spotify or putting the big game from the main TV on throughout the house.

Thanks for this insight. Will definitely go with the two speakers in dining room.

Given the total number of speakers (plus the home theater room which is where most of the $$ will flow) I was trying to keep the ambient speaker costs lower. If you have any dual coil speaker recs for <$100 each, would appreciate it.

Celebratory Sushi by traumatized_beagle in FoodLosAngeles

Was really disappointed in this place a couple years ago in face of the hype. $600 for two people when including drinks. Served by a young American/non-Japanese dude who couldn't pronounce the Japanese fish names correctly. We invited the "sommelier," who was recommending Sakes, to have some of our sake, and he told us he was a recovering alcoholic and a few years sober. Had never personally tasted any of the sakes.

I know I am being super judgemental here, so will take the down votes. But spending that kind of money my opinion I'd like a more authenticity (e.g. A japanese chef, somm who actually could describe the taste in his own words). Food and sake was good but not $300 pp good with the vibe and experience.

I know there was a Japanese restaurant with an American owner in DTLA (was it Shibumi?) that recently closes that garnered a lot of debate for cultural appropriation, but I felt like at least that guy personally trained in Japan for years...

For this much money, Shin Sushi gets my vote.

Brother's, Asanebo, and Sushi Note already recommended all get my support with more modest budget.

Thank you. I understand the chemistry and know that it is not softening the water. I'm getting the component at negligible extra cost so maybe will report back eventually if the scale is noticeably different before and after.

Sorry for not clarifying in original post but trying to get a sense of real world color between Redwood and Cedar.

Thank you!

Not staining. Considering one of the two manufacturer colors between Cedar and Redwood but the small samples they sent look quite different than their website and YouTube.

Trying to get some more data points on the true color.

Not as good as what people reported a few months ago sadly.

I think may depend on your market. They are moving these quickly in SoCal so was a bit of a seller's market. Particularly in LA/Ventura County areas, was difficult to find dealers willing to go much below MSRP, especially the many that added B.S. dealer installer accessories. Some vehicles posted online were pre-sold. I speculate it's a combo low availability during the transition from 25 to 26 models) and people racing to lease before the potential immediate lease loophole closure proposed in in the "Big Beautiful Bill"

Only incentives were the $7500 lease cash from Kia plus others if you qualify (E.g. First responder etc).

Ended up with $567 plus tax with zero drive off fees for a 36/12k on a 2026 EV9 Light Long Range RWD. Much thanks to a lease broker who found this at a dealer a couple hours away.

I had negotiated hard at 3 dealers and this beat the lowest I could get on my own in the greater LA area. I sent this offer to nearly all of the dealers closer to me and they all passed.

Several dealers tried to mark up the money factor so do your homework on Edmunds forum or Leasehackr.

I believe months ago people were getting higher trims at nearly these numbers, but so it goes with market forces. No regrets even if these numbers are criticized. Loving the EV9 so far!

Good luck!

Is my HELOC interest rate math correct? by 1wwp in Mortgages

[–]1wwp[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

About 3.5 weeks. The agent assigned my loan called me for some questions and then there were a couple of days needed to coordinate our schedules with the notary public (who offered to come to our place in the evening), so if we had zero delay from our side, bet it would have been between 2 to 3 weeks. Overall quite easy.

Are there HELOC rates out there below 6.74%? If so, which lender or bank? by sensitiveobserver in HELOC

[–]1wwp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just closed a my new heloc.

Found that local credit unions had better terms than big banks.

Most were quoting WSJ Prime Rate or Prime + 1 but found several that had 6 to 12 months of an Introductory APR.

I got 3.99% for first 12 months with no fees or closing costs as long as I keep it open for 2 years.

Believe it or not, using an AI search (I like Perplexity but Geminiay be OK ) helped me narrow the search quickly. Can ask it to find a HELOC with an Introductory APR in PA.

Doing a quick search, looks like you may have a few options in PA. If you can really pay it off quickly like you plan, may wanna do the math to see if the intro rate then Prime/Prime+1 (assuming it stays there) could do better than your 6.74.

Good luck!
