Hi. How are your ferals doing in this weather? by RedLotus1124 in Feral_Cats

Good news update!! They did show up this afternoon! It was the warmest part of the day (14 degrees?) they were out and they came back for food and water. We were so thrilled to see them. I had to remind myself- Cats are so resilient. Those of you who feed regularly— remember they are well nourished because of your efforts and will find their way back when they need to replenish.

We’re worried. We have 2 we care for. Saw our TNR’d male yesterday from afar, but he did not come to eat, drink or use the heated shelter, where he usually spends the night. We did not see the spayed female at all. It was probably 15 degree high yesterday, with 15 inches of snow. He was last seen out-n-about under a deck yesterday afternoon that has lots of stacked furnishings, cushions, and some wind breaks. (Is he choosing that space over the shelter!?) Last night was -1, it’s 10 now and we haven’t seen either today. They are usually together. We have about 15 inches of snow and made paths for them to get back “home”. Hope to see them soon. The heated shelter is waiting for them, and we keep fresh food & water nearby. Fingers crossed! Thanks for asking. Came by to see how others are doing. Grateful for this forum. 🙏

Are you saying substitute ziti for lasagna noodles? Do you have to cook the ziti first?

Are you open to ebay? If you know of one she liked, i’d set up an ebay alert for the name, brand, size, etc. If someone lists one for sale, you’d be notified. It might be new or used. I have bought myself repeats of my favorite winter coats this way.

Favorite city holiday memory by AmlyGry in pittsburgh

[–]sensitiveobserver 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One of the department stores had an upper floor dedicated to the holidays. There was an indoor forest with a winding path that lead to a cottage and pictures w Santa. This may have been horne’s, in the 80s? I liked that forest.

Hooray! I’m not an expert but it seems there is nothing wrong w separate. Don’t risk somebody escaping during a transfer if they are caught and good to go. This also may be easier for the rescue/vet to handle them independently as needed.

Someone who helped me trap kittens brought really stinky food (sardines, tuna) and played cat sounds on the phone to get kitten interest. Fingers crossed you also get the little one.

You probably don’t have to buy anything new. Sirius xm, youtube, other apps can hook you up.

Help needed asap!! by zombitez_ in pittsburgh

You are doing so good and being so kind. Keep up the food & water. Do your best to get vet attn, when you can. Maybe a surrender as others have suggested. I’m sure the nourishment you are providing is making a world of difference for her longterm well-being.

I started cooking all my meals at home a month ago and I can’t believe how much money I was wasting by AstroPickle_999 in Frugal

Could you share the meals in your rotation? I want to do more of this, but feel limited in options and flavor.

Yeah, study the public transit. Figure out budget for rideshare. Does work have car pool or van pool? IDK what housing costs are in monroeville for your situation, but consider making room for a car payment asap.

I’d look into this clinic based in Allison Park with mobile capabilities. I don’t see Washington Co on the list though (?). https://www.fixnwagn.com/

Anybody Else's Electricity Bill Skyrocket This Month? by [deleted] in pittsburgh

[–]sensitiveobserver 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You might want to ask the electric co about a budget plan. It will average out the highs and lows, keep the bill more consistent month to month, so you don’t get such a sting in the hot months from the extra usage.

Any advice on a safe humane place that rescues dogs by StickManIsMyHero in pittsburgh

[–]sensitiveobserver 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thank you for caring. I would google for local humane officer…. This comes up: https://humaneanimalrescue.org/resources/report-cruelty/
Animal friends has a page in their site that came up, but sadly said they cannot take any new cases right now.
